Not as good as the uprights!
Created: 18/01/07
Having had an upright DC01 for many years with no problems, it seemed logical to get a cylinder Dyson when we moved to our old cottage with a combination of carpets, floorboards, tiles and uneven stone floors.
We also have four cats which is another reason for choosing a Dyson as from experience with the DC01, nothing picks up pet hair so efficiently.
I was really excited about using this new Dyson for the first time as I thought they would have made huge improvements to them over the years and with it being specifically for hard floors and pet owners I was sure it would be the ultimate vacuum.
Sure it still has brilliant suction to pick up the pet hairs but, the hose is fitted to one side of the vacuum so that if you don't clip it into the front when you pull it it turns sideways all the time rather than following you around the room. Also, the extending part of the hose doesn't always lock into place so it ends up getting shorter as you vacuum!
The Turbo Head is ok but not as good as an upright at picking up hairs as it works only when you push it. The machine is also bulky and heavy to carry. And, the fact that the hose wraps around the machine isn't anything to get excited about and I hardly ever bother doing it as it's so cumbersome.
Don't get me wrong, this is a good vacuum and if you must have a cylinder cleaner then I'd say buy this one but, for this sort of money (mine was about £250) and with all the claims they make about it, I expected more. My DC01 was/is much better and given the choice again, I would choose one of their upright models.

MAC'S DC08 ANIMAL REVIEW
Created: 03/06/07
I decided to buy a new Dyson as my previous DC04 was showing signs of giving up the ghost after years of faithful service.
Once, I had a demonstration form Kirby at my home and was very impressed but was unable to justify the £1000+ price tag for a vacuum cleaner. The Dyson seemed a better compromise.
Having cats and dogs here at home, my attention was drawn to the Animal models of the Dyson range because of its design and filters so, having scrutinised the Ebay site for a DC08, I eventually found one.
It was a very different proposition from the old model. It is lighter, more powerful and removes dirt and pet hair with apparent ease. It also picks up larger items such as small pieces of wood and ash, from the woodburner. The old model just pushed these around, but the DC08 removes them effortlessly.
Overall, I am delighted with the Dyson and would recommend it to any pet owner.

The best vacuum cleaner I've ever had
Created: 23/09/10
Dyson is a brand I trust because it's reputation is founded on technology that REALLY works, and keeps on working.
The principle of cyclone technology seems such an obvious and yet ingenious solution to the old vacuums that can't suck a feather off a tiled floor after a very short space of time. Using the Dyson is a dream - the steady grip handle is so user-friendly and means you're in total control and can guide the head easily over the floor.
You can FEEL the power of the Dyson Animal - it's a really consistent performer and worth every penny.
As far as I'm concerned, this will be the only brand I ever buy again. Five stars.

Having had an upright dyson for a number of years I deciced to go for a cylinder model. This model is exellent, much more suction than an upright model. It picks up really well and even tackles my daughters long hair.Wish I had purchased years ago.Moves around well and tools are easy to use, only slight drawback is weight but it is compact and easy to carry round.

Dyson Animal The Best
Created: 10/05/09
Have had various Dyson models over the years (with dogs and budgies in mind). Always had uprights but now getting older thought I'd try the animal cylinder
as lighter to push hose round. It is brilliant and gets more up to the edge than upright. Gets all dog hairs an bird feathers up with ease as well as other muck and dust. Have got the Dyson Animal cylinder wrap around which is light, compact, easy to store, easier to manage, good with stairs. In fact, am now looking to get a 2nd one for upstairs as well! So, bye bye uprights (sorry you've served me well Dyson over many years) and hello Dyson cylinder. I would never use any other make-tried them all and Dyson is THE BEST for me and the pets!! Keep the flag flying Dyson.
