DYSON DC14 Vacuum cleaner
Created: 13/04/10
This vacuum cleaner was bought for my nephew who is a stallion man in a well known horse racing stables. As you can imagine, his house can get rather grubby, especially as he also has several cats. My wife has used an earlier model Dyson animal for several years and is very satisfied with it. My personal feeling was that, whilst it was very efficient, the whole thing was very cumbersome and heavy. I bought the DC14 on E Bay for my nephew without realising that it had been updated and the result is a cleaner that is a considerable improvement over the previous model. The handle is now shorter making it easier to use, the previous handle being very long and awkward, it`s much lighter and the tools supplied are more conveniently placed and easier to use. They also supply a sensible ammount of cable which means that you do not have to keep moving to another plug.
The changes they have made mean that it is now a much better machine than the earlier model and certainly no more bulky than any of the other bagless cleaners.
One thing that gives the Dyson an advantage over many other makes is there system of servicing. For a fixed price they send a Dyson engineer to your house at an agreed time and do a complete service on your machine, including any parts that need replacing either as part of the service schedule, or parts that are broken. When my wife had her Dyson animal serviced about 18 months ago we did not realise this and when the engineer came I asked how much a replacement wand was and it was then he told us that everything was included in the price. The price was a very reasonable £55.00, had we not had any parts and it was a small service involving a general clean and check I believe the price was around £40. I believe I am correct in saying that this pricing structure also included the motor plus a three month guarantee. I do not know the price of a full service at the present time. It`s partly because of there excellent service structure that I will give this Dyson DC14 Animal vacuum cleaner an excellent rating.

DC14 Animal lives up to its name

I have proudly owned my old Dyson DC01 which I have kept going for years - it has had so many replacement parts, but I have had to recently admit to myself that I needed a replacement.
I had already bought another replacement some years ago which was a 'Hoover' which had the now trendy 'cyclone' technology.
I gave it away in disgust as it seemed such a toy in comparison to my trusty DC01.
I did a bit of research online and read many reviews of what various owners thought of their respective Dyson models. I simply could not afford a new one but trawled through sellers who had a good reputation for their second hand ones.
Since I have a dog I thought it worth going for the DC14 Animal. The seller I purchased it from had fitted it with a new motor and supplied it with three brand new tools. It arrived the following day and I was impressed with the 'almost new' look to it.
I tried it out straight away and was immediately impressed with the suction. I fancy that the container is slightly smaller than the old DC01, and the whole body is obviously a lot bulkier, but it seems to be a powerful beast!
I have had it for several weeks now and I have put it through its paces. The hose has a good reach up the stairs and all the attachments all do their job efficiently and effectively.
I would certainly recommend this model - I am delighted.
Haven't yet had the heart to dispose of my good old DC01 though - I have owned it for about 16 years................

A reliable piece of kit

I have had this cleaner for several years now and bought it to replace an American Kirby which was costing me too much to run with the replacement bags and belts.
This machine is much lighter than the Kirby but still produces excellent results. We had 4 dogs when I bought it, and the labradors' hairs used to roll across the laminate like tumbleweed in a spaghetti western! The Dyson coped admirably with both laminate and rugs.
I like the way you can quickly switch from the floor sweeper to the wand for getting into tight corners (e.g. bathroom) and reaching cobwebs.
If you get one of these I would suggest buying a spare dust filter. They are a bit of foam rubber which you can wash, but they need to be air dried before they go back, so it helps to have a spare.
My brother-in-law used my Dyson to clear up after he had been doing building work for us and apart from clogging the filter with plaster dust the machine miraculously survived it.

Refurbished Dyson DC14
Created: 20/10/10
We have had a Dyson DC04 from new for about 9 or 10 years and finally the motor burned out, so we bought this DC14 which was refurbished with a new motor and tools. It arrived in excellent looking condition but a spring and small cover were missing, the supplier sent new parts which were easy to fit. After a few uses the clutch belt broke and as I am an engineer I asked the supplier to send a new clutch which has the new belts fitted, I replaced the clutch and now all is well.
I then found a reasonably priced new motor for my old DC04 and fitted it, and gave the old cleaner a new lease of life, so now we have a Dyson for downstairs and one for upstairs.
All the parts are easily obtainable for the new and old Dysons, and are not hard to fit.

Why I chose to upgrade my Dyson vacuum cleaner.
Created: 10/01/08
I have been using a Dyson DC07 almost since they first came out. It has vacuumed up everything you care to imagine and more! During it's last service I was told it was a vacuum cleaner and not a cement mixer and if I continued to abuse it I would need a new one sooner rater than later. I decided to research the new products and found the best and cheapest choices on Ebay. I upgraded to a Dyson DC14 which is the best for vacuuming pet hair as we have 7 cats and 2 dogs! I love it, but I have kept my old Dyson for the really mucky jobs! The new DC14 is much improved on the DC07 as it has a longer plug lead, a better reach for vacuuming stairs and better attachments. It also has a really useful mini turbine head for attaching to the extension. This picks up pet hair on the stairs and in those usually unreachable places like under the sofa. Highly recommended!! I can't really think of anything I dislike about it, except it isn't remote control and I still have to push!!
