My Mrs came in one day with one of these contraptions, to replace the £30 vacuum cleaner we had had for several years. The old one was not great on carpets, requiring one to `scrub` the bits off with the brush-head, so we needed a revolving brush type.
On the plus side though, it was 1/ "Light and manageable" for stairs, pelmets, car etc.2/ Did not take lumps of paint off skirtings nor mark furniture with its `sticky-out-bits` 3/ Had adequate suction from a 1600W motor 4/ Did not annihilate the tassles on rugs, nor scrub vast quantities of carpet fibre, making an unsightly-but-impressive sight in the see through muck holder 5/ Used bags in the non see-through muck holder, so you don`t spill the contents when transferring it to the bin. Nor have it blow about in the wind if you tried to empty it straight in the bin outside. 6/ Did not have a silly foot operated catch to wrestle with in order to sweep. 7/ One could simply swap the brush-head for another tool, instead of having to risk taking ones eye out trying to get the hose out of the handle 8/ Had a flexible hose rather than a rigid pipe in it that defies use. Etc, etc...and all for &30?!!
My 78 year old Mother gave hers away and I only wish I had known beforehand, because I would never have bought one. No way!

This is an ideal sized vacuum for about the house. It is light and very easy to use (especially with the ball) and exremely reliable.
The suction capacity is as to be expected from a Dyson and does not slow from empty to full.
The customer service and support is second to none. When a part is broken or damaged - usually via one of our dogs, parts are sent FOC the next day.
This is our second DC25 and both are used in a business capacity for our domestic cleaning company. Having used Dyson's (DC07 Animal)at home for a number of years due mainly to our labradors (2) continual hair loss, we won't use any other type.
Regardless of price (Cheaper on EBAY!) the quality stands out for years.

On the Whole, Cool

I had experienced the cleaning power of the Dyson before, as my girlfriend had bought one, so I knew how good it was. When I first used this one in my house, I had to empty the cylinder each time I cleaned a room! It makes you wonder what my previous cleaner was doing. (Just making a noise, I suspect!)
I love the way all the attachments are stored on the cleaner, they are always to hand & it makes it harder to lose them, like I did before with my last cleaner, (one attachment never to be found.) My only complaint would be the hose, while it does actually reach the top of my stairs, it needs to be a little longer, because as it is, it's awkward to use.
Something I must point out, is the look of the Dyson. It doesn't look that robust! That's the only thing that made me hesitate before buying one. My previous cleaner, may not have worked as well, but it still worked, even to the end! And in one piece. I do worry that I have to handle the Dyson with care. The handle has snapped off my sister's one & my friend warned me off buying one, as her's broke too. Although I don't know where. Personally, I think Dyson need to have a rethink about the plastic they use in manufacture.
So, all in all, I think this machine is fantastic at its job, it does look a little fragile & I find the hose a little tough to use, I also find I'm very frequently, emptying the cylinder, but that's probably showing it's doing its job well. I love the way the attachments are at hand & not scattered around the house.
Oh, I nearly forgot the ball. A little different from other cleaners, but easy to master & once that is achieved it makes this machine so versatile.
If you're thinking of buying one of these, I would say go ahead, but treat it with extra care! Or am I just being paranoid?

Incredible suction. Motor power is only half the story. It's the air watts that count. I was a bit worried as the motor power is a lot down on my old panasonic but this is far better at picking up deep dust in your carpets. It isn't especially noisy. You don't get that old vacuum smell - big bonus! It is efficient BUT the suck power does make pushing it hard work you do need to keep the brush bar running otherwise it is very hard work! You can see it lift the carpet as it goes over. Even cleans the carpet edges by the skirting.
The only issue is that it is heavy! Over 8kg isn't major but it is noticeable and I do find it tiring to use. Tools excellent long cable and easy manouverability with the ball are all steps forward. You do need to keep the filters clean as it WILL lose suction despite what they claim! Overall an excellent item great Dyson backup guarantee. Buy one - you won't be disappointed i'm sure.

Its not just Women that hoover up you know

Bought one after our Kirby wore out from many years of hard graft. Now thats a mans hoover and as the hoovering is one of my jobs, I wanted a decent bit of kit to replace it. On the plus side, its light, its quiet, its got a five year warranty, as an upright vacuum cleaner its very good because the suction is excellent, its manouverable, emptying the dust is realy easy, I like the fact you can move from solid floors to carpets at the flick of a switch, but on the down side, its very frustrating, I find the extendable pipe very stiff,( pulled it down the stairs on to me accidentaly, and that hurt) thats when you have worked out how to dismantle the handle and the stupid tube thing to get the pipe out in the first place, The flick up wheels at the back are so bloody awkward and fiddly to operate and can catch your ankles if you are not careful when you pull the machine back towards you, and that hurts as well, also £14.00 for a soft brush atachment your having a laugh Mr Dyson thats an essential piece of kit for us blokes, thats how we do the dusting, it should be standard equipment, so all in all, its not bad, but its not brilliant, and its no substitute for me Kirby.
