Fleetwood Mac: Rumours from the 70's to today
Created: 11/12/09
This has to be my all time favourite album. I love Fleetwood Mac full stop. I replaced my vinyl copy with this CD. It's playing now as I type, lots of playing for this album.
Second Hand News has great lyrics for getting over the 'ending' of a relationship, more so if someone has taken (your) place ;)
You Make Loving Fun is a fun song, love is meant to be 'fun' isn't it?
Gold Dust Woman has a magical note for me, we've all got a bit of gold dust deep within us, Rumours helps mine to flow.
No single favourite here, I love them all
Rumours won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1978. To date over 40 million copies worldwide have been sold. It's currently the 11th best-selling album of all time. Also ranked 25th on 'Rolling Stone's' list of the 500 greatest albums of all time :-x

If you love 70's music and you love the classic sound of Rock and haunting ballads then you NEED Rumours. I first heard this album back in 1982 and rushed off to buy it on vinyl. I've worn the record out and just had to buy a CD copy to play in the car. This is true musical genius with the electrifying voice of Stevie Nicks, the inspired guitar of Lindsey Buckingham and the unforgettable bass of John McVie. I was in love with this album from the first time that I heard it and I'm still in love with it now. If you haven't bought it then don't wait a minute longer - rush out and buy a copy now.

THE Fleetwood Mac album. It's a long way from the early brilliant Albatros era. Quality start to finish. Every song appears to be about the traumas within the band (they were all apparently in / out of relationships with each other!) The odd bit of hard rock (Go you own way, Dont stop, Gold dust woman) is mixed with mostly soft rock with some fabulous songs ripped off by others (Dreams, the chain etc) plus fabulous female vocals on You make loving fun, then heartrending raw feelings exposed on Oh Daddy, Songbird. Plus You make loving fun and more. Some top guitar playing, great musicianship and production throughout. Songwriting is top drawer.
This timeless album will be played in 100 years and still revered for the work of genius it is; no rock collection is complete without it. It is a pivotal moment in rock history.
It is one of the very few Vinyl LPs I owned in the 70s and 80s which I have since bought on CD.

I was the proud owner of Rumours on vinyl until my divorce. My ex-husband got to keep all the records and I wanted to purchase some of my favorites on CD. Cost is a very important factor to me, so EBay provides me with the opportunity to re-collect my longed for music. Rumours has always been one of the very best Fleetwood Mac productions, so I am thrilled that I now own it again - it appeals to all sorts of people, young and old, is easy to listen (and sing along) to. A must have for any collector.

Worth 6 stars - what an album should be like!

Following on from their epynomymous album in 1975, Fleetwood Mac had learned their craft well.
Produced so tightly so that each track shines like a diamond with professionalism, this is how a group that locks themselves away for the best part of a year albeit with internal relationships disintegrating, produces that one-in-a-lifetime album that will live on for decades more.
Perhaps a little foolishly I bought this album BEFORE the previous (aka The White Album) one; the one that had caused a great stir and had been their first #1 in the States. You really ought to listen to the previous one first as nothing can compare to this one.
There is even a video documentary available on how they produced this album; a fantastic insight into the why's and wherefore's of the polish on each track. There is also an extended version of Rumours with outtakes and early mixes - once again a brilliant back-stage peek for Fleetwood Mac enthusiasts.
Even though this was released in the latter part of the 1970s, it still is a Classic Album that deserves to be on everyone's CD shelf. 25 million copies were sold so see what you're missing!
