Excellent quality camera that gives great pictures. Worth getting to know

 | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

After using a roll film SLR camera for years I had to change. I am so impressed with the picture quality. I enjoy playing with both automatic and manual. The pictures ( I use fine) are really impressive. I have really blown them up and I am so pleased. This camera is easy to hold and its fairly small. this is perfect for taking on holiday and I am looking forward to going to Holland in August to take some pictures at a Koi show ( fish). I feel confident that all will turn out perfect. You must play with the settings on this camera to get the feel of every situation. Your confidence will grow as you understand what the icons and settings are. I like the fact that it uses AA batteries as you can but them anywhere. I have been using rechargeable and I get at least 240 pictures from a set. That includes viewing them of course. I have to be honest and say that I am so impressed that I have already bought the better model ( S4000). I have to say that the body is top notch and the buttons are precise and easy to use. The 3 inch screen allows you to both view and show your friends your latest pictures clearly. The zoom is first class and dont be worried by the low price of this camera. It really is the best, and you will not be disapointed. I have won several awards in the past for my photography and I feel confident that this little camera will not let me down. Thank you Fuji, your honest with your sales pitch.

Fuji FinePix S1600 Digital Camera Review

Created: 15/05/10
Having thoroughly test driven the Fuji S1500 over a 2 month period in both a professional and an enthusiast’s capacity I heard that the release of the S1600 was due early 2010 and I was really looking forward to getting my hands on it. It certainly did not disappoint.

When comparing the FinePix S1600 to its predecessor the subtle changes are the key factors in improving the specification. It now has a resolution of 12.2 MegaPixels, 2.2 more than its predecessor.

I’m sure you are thinking that compared to other digital cameras it does not seem like a very high resolution, but it is now becoming apparent that manufacturers are spending more time and money on improving the CCD sensors (Charged Coupled Device, which is the image sensor within the camera that converts the optical image into an electrical signal) and as a result the S1600 possesses a Super CCD.

I’m glad they have upgraded the lens to the 28mm Wide Angle Fujinon Lens, this enables you to fit more in the picture and with the combination of the resolution and 15x optical zoom the image quality is incredible for this superzoom bridge camera.

Good Points:-

It will shoot Full High Definition Photo at 1080p and 720p Movies, these can then be displayed on your HD-TV screen with no quality loss. The optional HDP-L1 HD player is required to enable connection to your TV.

SD & SDHC memory card compatible, the latter (secure digital high capacity) will let you use an incredible 32GB card, which will store approximately 5300 pictures at 12.2 MegaPixel Quality.

As on the previous model, the panoramic feature will take 3 shots and will merge them to create a panoramic photo, perfect for capturing big groups or landscapes.

An electronic view finder (EVF) allows you to see what you are shooting (or shot) in bright sunlight as well as offering a high resolution 3.0 inch LCD screen.

Automatic scene recognition is always a great asset it can optimise focus, white balance and exposure adjusting the settings for you, this is ideal if you’re not the technical type and looking to use the S1600 as a high quality point and shoot.

Bad Points:-

It hasn’t got a hot-shoe to attach an external flash, but this is clearly reflected in the price and compact lightweight size.

Not sure about the sound quality from the video, it sounds a bit tinny, however this could be a result of laptop speakers as I have not used this in conjunction with the aforementioned HDP-L1 Player. That said the video has come a long way and the quality is the best I’ve seen on a prosumer camera but I think we have a bit further to go before I give up my camcorder.

Summary:-

The beauty of this camera is that auto mode can make this the simplest of point and shoots or alternatively you have full manual control to be creative with. If the expense and complexity of the DSLR camera does not appeal to you, then this is the perfect bridge camera. More advanced than a compact camera with results that will impress.

Camera for everybody!

Created: 29/10/10
On start I want to add that I was selling professional DSLR and other cameras for few years. Also I am interested in photography.
Few days ago (before my 5 th anniversary) my old camera has died so I needed quickly new one.
I didn't have too much money so I choose Fuji S1600.
After so many years with DSLR I was worried about image quality because it is compact camera.
But when I got it I was shocked!! Even on automatic settings images sre very very good. And also HD movies are in good quality.
Very good image stabilisation, 15 X wide optical zoom, great grip and quick shutter.
Maybe zoom should be working quicker but for I used to it now.
If you want to make a HD movie you have to buy big SD card because it takes a lot of space (but it is normal).
Overall I am happy about this camera and now I know that in the future I will also buy Fuji.

I've always shined away from digital after years of 35mm slides, but having now used one, all my worries have been blown away. This excellent little bridge camera is a brilliant step up from a compact digi and lets you get the feel for controled photography before you make that big step into a DSLR.You can use it as a automatic compact if you like with great results, but this little gem offers much more. You can use aperture priority....you select which setting to use & the camera selects the correct speed, great for specific lighting shots..you can use speed priority & the camera selects the best aperture, this is great for those slow speed water shots. You can also rattle off a selection of frames at the press of a button, great for action shots. There's panoramic..it over laps 3 shots for a fantastic view,it also has brackerting...which allows you to see the one shot...over exsposed..under..& spot on and once you've mastered those you can go to manual and control both aperture & speed. The controls are perfect for use and with the selection dial on the top,it even feels and looks like an SLR.Got a brilliant big viewing screen, which is very good to use,but you can switch to looking through the view finder if needed. The flash works well, but with such an array of settings to use,I can see myself using it on rare occassions.People may think that 12.2MP is not enough,I had an 8MP pocket camera which took some great shots, now I have a 12.2MP and the results are brilliant, its getting harder & harder to tell the differance between Digital & Film.If that wasn't enough you can select movie mode and shoot it as it happens with sound, then its back home transfer to your PC..photo shop if you want(with all these settings you may not need to).print...enlarge onto canvas, internet..disc or through your TV.I've only had this camera since Christmas,so still enjoying working the settings and exsperimenting, its like I've got my old SLR back again only this time with out the cost or waste of film.
If you manage to buy this model or have it as a present you will not be dissapointed.
