Fujifilm FinePix S5800 8.0 MP Digital Camera - Black

as an avid interested amateur photographer I wanted a camera that had a bit more than the small digital ones but i couldn't get my head around the SLR type (or my purse). I did some research with a famous magazine and decided that as a "bridge" camera, this looked kind-of professional, had great reviews, was easy to use and took really clear pictures.

I was not disappointed. What a great camera. Close-ups are amazing and not grainy, the natural light (flash disabled) takes amazing gig photos and on auto I have had wonderful scene pics and family shots. "Very professional" have been some of the comments I have received. The zoom is brilliant too.

Easy to use on auto and even if you change the settings you get a text readout on the screen telling you what you have changed to and what it does. The booklet/instruction manual was easy to read and understand but literally, I took it out of the box and started snapping away (reading up on the technical bits later)

It has a great selection of manual settings for the discerning photographer too.

What swayed me was a review by a professional photographer who said the quality of the photos he got from this Finepix was easily comparable to his SLR camera... (Oh... all that fiddling with different lenses... no way!)

Money very well spent. Satisfaction value..... top marks!

Excellent camera as described, I've used Fuji/ Fujifilm for many years and have never had problems........I use 3 different types of Fuji digitals cameras at the moment and the software is World class!!! For printing A4 photo's, the S5800 is as good as my Canon Eos450D for the resolution most high class printers can produce, but the S5800 is a much better "value for money" digital camera!!! Worth a look if you want an easy to understand camera!!!

macro is absolutely ace. veins on leaves and plant and jewellery amazing!!!.and there's more. Large led screen and viewfinder.no more heads chopped off
great firework photos.cuts out red eye..no more devil dogs!!
zoom is fab..check the statues out at lyme park at a 1000 yards....no figleaf!!!!
great sound and movie facility. I prefer a grabbale camera as opposed to a thin point and go camera..The photos are great and can be edited well..fed up of small cameras.or ruining the led "cos it's in your pocket?
get one of these...my mates just got the 2000 and she hates it. she's gone back to the best and most resilient one It's .great for the art room and the students doing photography and art...

Superb all-rounder. From extreme macro to long exposure night shots to zoom shots, this does a pretty competent job. On max zoom in bright sunlight, there is a little fringing, but not massive amounts. Runs on AA batteries, so you are never far away from replacements if caught short. I have this as my everyday camera and an SLR for special occasions. The Fuji is good enough for everyday use and cheap enough not to have to worry too much.

This is an excellent camera for the price and the level of features put a lot of more expensive models to shame. The camera is very easy to use and the 10* optical zoom gives you great scope for your pictures. The pictures are clear and crisp, with vibrant, life-like colours that you would expect from more expensive options. I bought this camera to get me back into my photography as I had been out of it for a few years. And this camera has certainly done the trick.
