Garmin nuvi 1340 Automotive GPS Receiver

Bought this item to replace my outdated nuvi 255t. Having done lots my homework and reading lots of reviews, decided to buy the 1340. Most of negative reviews point on the problems people have with updating maps, sometimes citing hours to update etc. It took me 34 minutes to download, 2 min to prepare and 62 minutes on the dot to update, so just over 1.5hrs - the key to success is to update the drivers/software of the stanav first THEN update the maps. Everything went smoothly and had the opportunity to test the maps in london same day. have to say i am very impressed with the ease of use, features and most of all the pedestrian mode in big cities. It also got a microSD slot, so no problems with large size future updates. The only criticism i have is the lack of cable/car charger with built-in antenna - making traffic notification redundant; my previous 255t came with this cable so it looks like a step backwards for garmin.

read up on the internet , garmin 1340was one of the most popular selling Sat Nav's . It may not have all the features of the expensive ones , but it got me from the UK to South Germany on a motorbike and only lost me twice, user error , not the sat nav. Its simple and re-calculates quickly down loads are cheap compared to rivals. would recommend even to my own mother !

Bought this as it was a nice big display so all the info isn't crammed in.Didn't want one with loads of features,I can plug an ipod into my car & it also has bluetoooth.Like how it displays the speed limit,shows speed cameras & flashes if you're speeding.Unit is very quick to warm up & recalculates very quickly.Best of all the Garmin product support is fantastic.Far better than Tom Tom.

The best feature of the Garmin 1340 for my money is the way it immediately recognizes that you have taken a different route to the one it recommended and automatically works out a new route - without any nagging!
It certainly helped greatly during a recent 500-mile trip, much of it in unfamiliar territory, but it ded keep trying to take me off the M5 onto the A38 for no apparent reason, invented several 50mph sections on motorways and once told me to drive through what was clearly a brick wall...
Generally a useful piece of kit, if used intelligently in conjunction with a good map.

nice thing i love things that are not complicated and work properly,
instantly showed me where i was and how to get where i was going,nice slim fit in your pocket with nice finish ,complete box usb lead power lead to car,suction cup holder,a bargain at 70 ,nice touch screen works nicely,nice loud voice ,highly recomended ,i wont be selling it ,its mine,
