Garmin 1390T satnav
Created: 25/05/11
Whilst i have a marine Garmin satnav which handles the complexity of being at sea easily, things such as current, tide etc. The more basic car version is so user friendly, it talks to you and if you pay attention and listen then it is a very accurate tool which helps enormously in new and built up situations. Be careful, ask it to go by the shortest route and country roads suddenly appear on your itinery. The route might be shorter but the time and fuel consumption aren't necessarily less. Well pleased with the variable use function of driving, cycling and walking. A special bit of kit that i'm looking forward to accompannying me across Europe, later this year,

I had been using the Garmin Nuvi 1310 for some time and was quite familiar with the Garmin controls and the main problem with the 1310 was that there were no European maps only UK and ROI. The Garmin Nuvi 1390 covers Eastern Europe as far as Turkey and I will be using it on my next trips to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. I find the battery life in the 1300 series excellent and rarely use the car charging cable in my short journeys in Scotland but that will stop once I get used to the Traffic facilities on this Nuvi 1390 model, it lets you know when there is a traffic jam on your route. Problem is that you have to use the special power cable and the small antenna supplied with it so that your GPS can pick up the traffic signals from the local radio stations that supply traffic updates. My only bitch is with the data/power socket on the rear of the 1300 series, it seems quite fragile and I don't think its intended to stand up to lots of connections and disconnections. I like the improved memory on the 1390 at 4 Gb it can handle all of Europe and have room left for city explorers etc. I liked the facility on the 1300 series to plug in external maps, I used that with my 1310 but I'm struggling to find a use for it on the 1390 because it has plenty of memory. Keeping maps up to date was always a bind but with Garmin's increasingly competitive prices on lifetime updates that will soon be a thing of the past.

Accurate, fuss-free navigation which is terrific value for money!

It's really straightforward to use and is so slim and compact, it's untrue! Fits into its cradle easily and gives clear instructions well in advance of the junctions/changes of direction. I love the way the view 'zooms in' as you reach a junction so that you can see clearly which exit to take. I bought this product because we have used a motorbike Garmin on holidays so I am familiar with the Garmin style, plus this one seemed excellent value for money with the European mapping included - a definite plus! We are relocating soon and wil need to find our way around new parts of the UK: just getting to and from work and the shops will require a sat nav as I have such a poor sense of direction! With my new Garmin, I feel instantly confident about navigating around on my own and without the fuss of printed maps and directions - a great purchase which I would recommend to anyone needing the reassurance of fuss-free technology on a daily basis.

Garmin nuvi 1390T Car GPS
Created: 06/04/10
The Garmin nuvi 1390T SAT Nav is an excellent navigation GPS, Easy to set up ,Simple to use & excellent value for money. This being my first experience of this type of equipment was amazed at how easy it was to use & set up.You can pick you required destination & save it into favorites if it is to be used on numerous occasions, plus rename it to a name that you will recognize easily.
Graphics were clear & precise, direction voice was clear (and volume could be adjusted) & the best feature was speed camera alerts & speed limit reminders.
Dislikes were the window mount would not stick , but I want a dash mount anyway & bought a Garmin universal item which was perfect.

I bought this product because my son has a Garmin Sumo and that is easy to work and follow, its simple to use.
The price is great and the map uploading and speed camera updating for free is good also.
Its the size of a mobile phone and very slim, I have not had it long 3 days, but seems to do what it is supposed to do.
Having a free download for street level and walking is great and I think you can leave a marker where your car is to get back to it.
Free trafic updates are a good idea and of course this little baby has Euro mapping all for £120! SUPER!
So sofar, nice bit of kit
