Princess Garmina
Created: 11/10/10
The little box arrived and out stepped our chatty, bossy Princess Garmina, as my teenage daughter christened her. Plugged in my shiny old Roadster MX5 she wilfully refused to tell us where our own house was, and still does, so we must navigate using our nearest neighbour a 100 metres away.
"Turn left, turn right," she has us skipping and laughing merrily along mysterious and original routes even to places we know well.
"Recalculating" she trills without any change of mood when we disobey her, though daughter and I both expect her to come flying off the windscreen like a fury at my throat when we constantly ignore her on the way to Norfolk. Well we know the way and did not intend to go through Swaffham when we are already on the bypass. Ho hum.
Now we are off to South Wales, will she understand Welsh and the landscape of the valleys, or lead us off a mountainside or lose up us a dark and unpronouncable place?
Always entertaining, constant and never moody, rather literal and unimaginative, literally where would we be without our Garmina, our 205W rebuilt Automotive GPS receiver, our obliging imperative Princess.

The Garmin Nuvi 205W sat nav is now one of the older models available. It is not exactly packed with features and to be honest it would be nice to be able to connect to my phone with Bluetooth. However, you pay for what you get and this is a really nice example of simple yet effective sat nav technology. It's extremely easy to use both when in the car and when connected to your PC. The map is basic yet clear and concise. The instructions are easy to follow. Don't be concerned that because its the wider (w) edition it'll block your view. It is exactly the right size.
For all these reasons I brought one and tested it this weekend travelling to Hampshire to North Wales without consulting a map. Okay, I would have found my way anyway, but it is nice to be able to push the divert button and be given other route options.
Highly recommended albeit no longer avaiable from Garmin new.

Having been a dyed-in-the-wool map reader for more years than I care to recall I finally decided to drag myself into the 21st century and buy a sat nav. I chose the Garmin nuvi 205w because I had read some good reviews about it and have not been disappointed. It was so easy to register the product on the Garmin site and ensure I had the latest software and then the set up and use is childs play. The voice giving the directions is quite soothing and when on motorways the voice is activated about a mile from your exit so there is no unnecessary distractions whilst driving.
All in all a great sat nav at a fair price. My only regret is that I left my conversion to this technology too long.

Garmin the best Sat Nav
Created: 18/01/11
I have already had a Garmin nuvi 265wt for the last 2 years which has always been very accurate every time I have used it whether in this country or abroad . This Garmin nuvi 205w for UK only is one I have purchased and set up & tested for another family member , this one is also excellent . I tested it around an area that I live and know very well , it took me the shortest route accurate and changed my route very fast when I took a wrong turn on purpose Just to see if it would . I have tried other makes and in my opinion Garmin is the best by far , I certainly will never use any other make .

Garmin Nuvi 205W Personal Review

First time receive this Garmin unable to turn off the GPS simulator. Until take out the memory card then it work normally.
Register in garmin website is ok. nothing special only you can download trail camera alert for 30 days (not very good)
Listen to the voice navigator really dissapointment unlike tom tom you can rely 70% to the voice navigator.
After a few try the screen/display hang, only herd the voice. This happen when I zoom out the map. after a few restart and a few reset the same thing happen again (not really a reset i think). Until I zoom in again than its ok. Seems like it really heavy on large map
Overall I don't like this garmin. I try Tomtom before and It simple and practical seem like it was the best sat nav I ever try.
I decide to buy this garmin because it offer my country map and the price for the map a little bit cheaper.
Conclusion go for Tomtom, for what ever reason.
