    Description
From the moment the nuvi 3790T greets the driver with the question, “Where to?” the user knows they are in capable hands. With its highly-responsive 800x400 pixel 4.3-inch (10.8-cm) LCD display, and its richly detailed maps, the Garmin GPS looks after all the details, letting the user concentrate on safe driving. For example, the intelligent Garmin GPS uses nuRoutes Navigation to analyse the user’s past journeys, including their past driving pattern and likely traffic trends, feeds in live traffic alerts, then uses the information to predict the likely journey time. With PhotoReal Junction View, when approaching a junction the display on the GPS device shows the user which lane to take with a richly detailed view of the road ahead, including traffic signs, trees, buildings and pylons. And if the user’s plans change, all they have to do is speak to the GPS device with instructions about where they want to go, and the nuvi 3790T shows the best way to get there, for completely hands free navigation. With its intuitive interface, 3-D building and terrain view, pan-European traffic alerts and turn-by-turn directions, the nuvi 3790T provides safe, efficient navigation. And since the sleek, aluminium and black GPS device is less than 9mm thick, and weighs less than 114 g, the nuvi 3790T is equally suited to pedestrian use.

Garmin nuvi 3790T Automotive GPS Receiver

    Created: 09/01/11
So far I am very concerned about several aspects of this 3790T Garmin GPS sat nav.
It sends me off motorways across country which is clearly an internal conflict between Fastest route and shortest route selection. Something much less problematic with Tom Tom.
It has turned the Map display totally Black on some Journeys, it appears to be on some of those journeys over 2 hours.
The Safety Cameras facility is constantly alerting you of cameras, probably on a ratio of 4 or 5 times more than the Safety camera alerts on a Tom Tom. I am convinced the Garmin safety camera facility does NOT delete safety cameras NO LONGER IN USE.
Voice Command can be very useful on some aspects, but totally useless on others, particularly phone calls to names on your contact list.
All in all you can be easily seduced by its appearance and listed facilities, however when using it in practice throughout Great Britain and through Europe, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany, I was very disappointed. I am very seriously considering returning to a Tom Tom sat Nav.

    Garmin 3790T Pros and Cons

    Created: 02/12/10
Good parts are that it is as asthetically pleasing as an i-phone, slim and light and has a very good voice recognition system (on most days anyway). The quality of the display is outstanding the new traffic features and extra POI makes it a very usefull tool indeed.

    Bad Points:
Has a tendency to lock up if you are being demanding with it. Occasionally slow to find satellites. Bluetooth so poor on sound it's unusable. Display touch response can be temperamental at times unless kept clean.

At £220 well worth it as it's strenghts overpower it's weakneses. I would recommend the 3790T to anyone wanting a slim state-of-the-art Sat-Nav you can talk to so you can keep your hands free.

    Very Average

    Created: 06/12/10
This is a replacement for my Garmin 660FM which was stolen recently. Although very slim and tactile the 3790T isn't a patch on the 660FM.
My 3790T takes an absolute age to acquire satellites, it regularly takes up to 6 miles before the acquisition is made, which is very frustrating! The voice recognition is very clever and works better than I had expected, although it doesn't cope with most of the names on my mobile phone contact list when using the Bluetooth facility which is a real drawback.
The display and instructions are very good and the constant mph read out is a nice feature, but on the whole a step backwards for me, I really miss the music storage and playback FM facility on my previous Garmin.

    GARMIN 3790T
Fantastic product, easy to update maps, although a large download, good internet connection required.
Amazingly clear graphics and screen, talk control to Sat Nav works really well,
Garmin also sell lifetime map updates for about £55, it gets even better!

I have not tried out the traffic link yet, although i have added various points of interest from the Garmin control page, look in the extras folder on the unit for the downloaded POI's.

    Overall- very pleased

Rubbish Garmin nuvi 3790T Automotive GPS Receiver

    Created: 12/11/10
Rubbish, it is the most disapointing purchase I have made in years. The battery life about 1.5 hours max nothing like the 4 hours max they quote so you have to use the cable which happens to be the size of a 13amp power lead. What is the point of having pedestrian and cycle modes when it cannot manage more than 1.5 hours without a power supply. Routes must be determined by some random logic as it will send you all over the place. We just ignore at least half the time. Even takes you off motorways and then sends you back on. It once sent me through the Exmoor moores!. I think it performs OK on about 1 out 4 trips. I would never recomend that anyone buys it. Basically I hate it and rtegret wasting my money.
