Great and versatile unit for all sizes of familys

Created: 16/09/10
The George Foreman indoor grill comes in a huge box as this is both a large health grill and griddle plate.

Both sides of the grill have independant controls located at either side of the unit, sadly there is no overall on/off switch nor timer control as on some grills. You just have to turn the thermostat all the way down, which I never feel is totally adequate, just needs an accidental touch to turn it on so your left to unplug it from the wall each time which I think is messy.

That small complaint aside, the unit is excellent at what it is designed to do. The health grill will easily take four chicken breasts and grill them top and bottom. It also makes an excellent pannini press with the grills floating hinge. If you love steak, with those grill lines, this is excellent.

The other side of the unit is the griddle, I would have liked if this got just a little bit hotter but then maybe I am just impatient. I have cooked many things on this side from including eggs, pancakes, bacon and even 'roast' vegetables for enchiladas and as an accompaniment to chicken grilling on the other side.

It is a very versatile unit that is much easier to clean than older models of this type of grill.

It's great even for doing the kids chicken nuggets without any oil or having the expense of running a huge oven.

Definitely recommended.

A good concept, though delivery could be better

I particularly like grilled food. Not just for the taste over steaming or boiling, but also for the health benefits over frying. The George Foreman is a god send, and to visually see the benefits of all the fat removed from the food is startling.

The Indoor Grill and hot plate is a good idea for frying and draining non grilled food, like egg and vegetables, and come together quite well. There is an independent heat control for the hot plate, from the grill for further control granularity.

There are a number of pitfalls however, which makes this Foreman Grill lose some of it's prestige. The build quality does feel rather cheap, with hollow plastic hobs and casing, leaving the impression that it is quite a delicate piece. In fact, I had to replace the first grill, as one of the hobs arrived broken.

Also, in a busy lifestyle, the grill has not overcome one of it's main faults, which by the nature of it's purpose may prove a challenge. Since the device is built to seep the fatty oils of meat, though it may be efficient, it is also quite messy and cumbersome to clean after use. I would use the grill every day if it were easy to clean afterwards, but it's a fact that I find I must accept.

Overall, on these merits set against the flaws, and considering the low price for the grill, the Foreman 13589 Indoor Grill, is good value for money, and has a very worthy place in the kitchen.

Fantastic product. Large enough for a family of four but not too bulky store. Cooks food really fast, even from frozen. So easy to use and very easy to clean. All fat drains away into drip tray so is healthy too. Great for caravaning in typical English weather because can be used indoors, unlike a BBQ and tastes just as good.

What can I say about the George that hasnt been said already? I love it! You can use the grill side of it to cook thick meats like burgers or steaks and then use the griddle side to cook stuff like bacon, eggs, veg.

Everything cooks fast and even and it is so much less hassle than using a grill or pan on your cooker. I used to use my cooker grill to make bacon but it took time to heat up and cook, the griddle heats up very quickly and what I really like is that I can put bacon on it that has not been trimmed and the fat just falls off!

Highly recommended, most of the other George Foreman grills do not have a griddle, I would highly recommend getting a grill/griddle combination for the versatility!

Fantastic food in a flash

Created: 23/08/10
Fantastic quality item. For those who find that the standard grill isn't large enough then this is the item for you! The hotplate is also extremely useful (Especially when doing a fried breakfast). Both the griddle and hot plate heat up extremely quickly and cook your food in a flash. Cleaning is easy also, my advice is to get a damp soapy cloth and clean it while still fairly hot as once everything has cooled, it can be a bit of a nightmare to clean off the food (as with any pan)

All in all, this is a great piece of kitchen wizardry and could be used in the home or caravan or anywhere you can get power!
