Superb album from the infamous cartoon band

Created: 24/08/06
The band is able to use their musical talents to create fantastic songs for the listening audience. Playing keyboards, guitars, violins, drums and the piano Gorillaz are able to dive deep within what has been labelled as `their own' musical genre. Singers 2D, Noodle, Russell and Murdoc combine their talents to create what has become one of the biggest selling albums in 2005.

What makes this album stand out from other albums is that every single song is completely different. There are genres of pop, rock, soul, r`n'b and rap which allow listeners to gain different tastes and can therefore appreciate different musical talents. Each song brings together a different style of musical genre, a much grasping respecatble musical quality, which is rare to find these days.

This is probably why Gorillaz are so successful, because they ARE different from other artists. At the time it was argued the music industry was slumping. Sales were not as high as they had been for years before and artists were running out of ideas. Then Gorillaz come along and released a smash hit album which remained in the top 40 for most of the year.

After their astonishing performance at the Apollo in Manchester their fan base shot through the roof. Sales then increased whilst the band released smash hits Feel Good Inc, Dare (Which went to number 1) El Manana and Kids with guns.

The song which will have viewers gasping is `Every Planet we reach is dead' which is absolutely fantastic. The vocals, pianos and guitars and the whole general feel of the quick upbeat song combine magnificently. It's a song to sing along to but can be appreciated in a variety of ways but clinically it emphasis the bands astonishing musical talents.

All songs are fantastic. The clear noticeable factor of the album are the instrumentals. Each band member brings their musical instrument talents to the fold, making this a real music album, not you're whole rapping with any background music, but general appreciative music.

Having a variety of artists, (De La Soul, Neneh Cherry, Shaun Ryder, Bobby Brown,) also shows Gorillaz talents to adjust their songs to fit the requirments of different artists

Probably better than the first album but both are equally brilliant and should be heard at any time of the day, no matter what situation.

demon daze?

Created: 02/10/07
I decided to buy this CD because i had heard good things of this band and then heard one of the tracks from this album, "every planet we reach is dead" and i thought it was an amazing track something haunting almost spine-tingling about the sound and plaintive voice of the singer, and the lyrics were strange, they tell a story, not quite sure what story but it intrigued me.
So i decided to buy it from ebay, as I thought it would be a good first by of a cd this way, found a cd at a good buy it now price so went ahead.

now UI've heard the whole album I really like it, its the cd I'm currently playing in my car at the moment!!

I recomend it to anyone

Modern Day Rock Opera

Created: 07/02/07
I bought this album on the basis of the singles 'Feel Good inc' and 'Dare' which I loved and Albarn's track record for creating fun, funky and completely different music.

I wasn't disappointed. The album is - for me at least - a bit of a rock opera, seemingly telling a story of the demise of civilisation and humanity through the songs. But while there is certainly a message for us within the songs, it is crafted into clever, funny, touching and get-up-and-dance tracks with all the hall-marks of Gorillaz at their finest.

Not all the songs are instant hits, but it works superbly as a body of work, wrenching your feelings...lifting you up with glorious gospel harmonies (Don't get lost in heaven) on one track or driving you onwards with simple baselines (Kidz with guns) and Albarn's distinctive voice weaving its magic.

This is intelligent music, distinctive, edgy and thought-provoking and far more than the sum of its singles.

Hot diggedy dog!

Created: 16/02/06
I'll admit it, I'm an old git! I'm in my 40's but these guys rock! I've found the recent chart pap very mundane, very copycat stylee. There seem to be a million & 1 gangsta rappas out there and this album doesn't just break that mould it shatters it! There is place for the 'soulful dirge' and these guys have found it. In the 80's people "found" Cohen and they would end their heavy drinking sessions listening to his music into the early hours, 'Fire Coming Out Of A Monkey's Head' is pure brilliance and the whole CD way, w..a..y.. outclasses their previous offering. Get it you really won't be disappointed!
