HP L1706 17" LCD Monitor

This flat screen monitor is exactly what I was looking for to replace my bulky CRT monitor. My study is now needed as an occasional nursery for new grand children. A smaller desk was necessary in the new study, so the old CRT had to go. I found the above item on eBay, and compared prices on various shopping sites, the prices ranged from £59.99 to £225. Guess which one I chose! I found a very comprehensive review on ciao.co.uk and having installed it today can only agree with every word in the review. Highly recommended. Highly delighted.

This is an excellent general purpose monitor. Although I've no experience in running it with games. It is not the fastest (i.e. <5 ms) but it has a response time of 12 ms which is faster than most.
It had some marks on the screen but I purchased some cleaning wipes from eBay's inkspot_online and these worked great. You can use a utility which magnifies a part of the screen to check if marks are dead pixels. If the marks increase in size then they are dead pixels.
The main reason I purchased this monitor was that it had a Hewlett Packard badge. Although it made was China I hope that HP had some input on the quality of manufacture. It is difficult to get statistics on reliability of monitors or this would have been my main criteria.

I bought this monitor to replace my old hp crt monitor which although still useful, was too bulky as I needed more desktop space. I decided to stick with HP because it is a good brand, and the HP L1706 monitor does an excellent job of displaying images and text, although it has to be said that you have to be directly in front of the monitor to obtain the optimum viewing position as viewing from an angle of more than 15 degrees results in white areas of the screen becoming creamy / brown especially near the edges. Having said this, the monitor is easy to connect and easy to set up as this monitor auto adjusts to its optimum setting.

Great Monitor for the price, ideal for any PC. Picture is excellent, smart looking in silver.Connected easily no need for instructions.
