Humax Foxsat HDR (320 GB) DTV Receiver

I dont watch much tv so did not want to go down the Sky route as it was not cost effective. I decided that Freesat was the right thing for me so I purchased a Humax Foxsat HDR (320 GB) DTV Receiver and I am very impressed. I bought a complete system including the satellite dish and all fixings and dual cable and fitted it myself. I am an average DIYer and found the instructions easy to follow and once hooked up the system on screen menu was a breeze. HD is available on BBC and ITV and the World Cup and Wimbledon were a pleasure to watch in glorious HD (although it didn't actually make England or Andy Murray play any better!). This system also has the facility to pause and play live tv which is a great feature and has a massive 320 GB hard drive to record your programmes and like sky plus you can also watch and record separate channels or record two channels simultaneously. Freesat on BBC and ITV HD also give you multi screen options for sport. I highly recommend this product for its ease of installation and superb picture quality and its ease of use, not forgetting value for money with a one off payment of under £290 all in.

Humax have a desrvedly good reputation for making TV receiver systems and this is a good example of one of their products. It feels like it has been well made.

Freeview reception at our house is very poor so freesat is the answer.

I connected two feeds from my satellite dish and then switched the Humax on.
Instant result.
Easy to use and HD quality excellent.
This is going to save me a lot of money. Goodbye Sky - Hello Freesat.

Goodbye Sky!

I bought this product after a friend of mine told me about it, After paying £60 a month to sky tv for many years and mainly watching freeview channels I thought it was time for a change. If you break down your sky bill it's £11 per month for the record features, £10 per month for the HD channels and then whatever package i.e sports movies etc all takes the price up leaving the customer feeling rather ripped off.
The Humax box is really good, I'd say it's only about 90% user freindly as some of the menus etc aren't as easy as Sky but once you get used to them they're easy enough, you can still put series link on programs you record. It also makes your normal channels like ITV and BBC have a much clearer picture because it upscales them to 1080p, there is a noticable difference if you put the normal freeview (via aerial) on your tv and then put the same channel on through the freesat (via dish and hdmi) the picture is much more sharp and crisp. All in all I'd say it is worth every penny, a really good product, I can see why it has won so many awards.

Bad News its going back, worked 2 dys given up fault

Created: 16/04/11
Worked for 2 days after spending £ 40 for dish realignment, now product will not pass information from HD recorder down the HDMI cable to my TV.
I have tried 3 HDMI cables even the gold contacts very expensive ones, still no signal to TV, I surmise that the problem lies in the Humax Foxsat HDR 320 Freesat HN Recorder + iplayer
Will contact supplier & Humax who will not be happy bunny's when I tell them their sending out poor quality recording equipment.

Another winner from Humax

Just moved to a new house - TV signal not great, but it came with a satellite dish. Not being keen on funding Mr Murdoch's yachts, a Freesat box seemed ideal.

Saw the Humax on Ebay, had a quick research around the net, and voila. One HD box that nicely matches the TV's 1080i, and works beautifully.

Great EPG, simple as anything to set up, and just works, which is really important.

The only, single, solitary complaint is the lack of Dave. No more 1990s Top Gear? Shame!
