Nifty little camcorder

Created: 22/07/09
Has exactly the features I'm looking for in a camcorder.
The zoom works very well with the image stabilizer and it does genuine widescreen.
It has firewire and, thank god, no useless USB port, so you get clean video transfers.
I used this mostly for transferring video that others had shot, this camera never complained about any tape I threw at it, unlike my current Canon that rejects half the tapes i put in it.
Simple enough to operate but with enough features to keep more enthusiastic users happy.
Nice enough picture quality and quite compact with good battery life.
Don't buy this if your interest is serious professional work, but for holiday snaps it's a great little machine.

JVC GR-D20 Mini DV Camcorder

Created: 24/02/10
2 years ago, on my way back from a family holiday my JVC GR-D93EK Mini DV Camcorder broke down, and after many attempts to try and get it fixed, it seemed that it would probably be cheaper to just buy a new video camcorder, than pay for the repairs. Last year, I left the camcorder with a friend who claimed he could fix it, and in the meantime I searched for another good video camcorder at a reasonable price. This camcorder that I purchased was so exactly what I wanted, and exceeded my expectations, being an upgrade to the camcorder that I had. It has a 700x Digital zoom and a 16x Optical zoom, which is excellent for the price paid. If I had to criticise anything it would be that there is quite a bit of motor noise, but other than that, an excellent purchase. I would recommend this camcorder to anyone wanting an excellent buy with a quite low budget.

i only bought this to download tapes via the fire wire as i had mauled my own to death trying to insert a usb connection..........whoops.........anyway i bought this for £20 and the connection is great. The build quality is not as good as the JVC DX 507 series but does the job just as well.

JVC GR-D20 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Created: 10/03/08
Good points - easy to use, compact, light to handle

Poor point - the zoom button tends to get in the way of my index finger when filming. The cause might be that I've large hands that 'fill' the casing when I'm holding the camcorder

Good camcorder - light and easy to use. Only one slight niggle with it- if you have a hot shoe attachement to fit to a tripod, you need to remove this before you can change a tape.
