LG DRT389H DVD Recorder

We already had one of these DVD recorders and wanted another to replace a faulty VCR. (How often do you find that there are two programmes which you want to record but are on at the same time?)

For someone who wants a simple piece of equipment to record and play back TV programmes nothing could be simpler and the quality is excellent using DVD-RW discs - 6 hours of recording per disc.

Recording could not be simpler - forget setting the timer menu. Simply press "GUIDE" on the remote, scroll to the programme you want to record (in the EPG guide), press the red button, press the OK button to confirm and swith the DVD OFF. You can record several programmes (on different channels) so long as they do not overlap.

Purists probably will not be satisfied with our simple scart connection and will probably look for a machine that produces superior recordings. This machine produces recordings which are vastly superior to any VCR recording.

I cannot think of any negative points to reeport after having used our first machine for some two and a half years.

I honestly cannot find anything to complain about at all on this DVD Recorder.
It has a HDMI connection and upscales dvds to near HD quality. The playback picture quality is excellent on extra slow play and slow play although it does distintigrate somewhat when recording on anything above slow play but that would be the same for any dvd recorder.
Don't bother with the instructions when setting it up as it's really just down to common sense when connecting the leads.
The functions are very easy to pick up and after experimenting with the controls for about 30 minutes i was quite confident that i had mastered most of the functions available.
I only paid £80 via ebay but i believe the normal shop price is around £120.00 which is still a real bargain.
I would definetely recommend this to anybody who are looking for a cheap but good quality DVD Recorder.

I bought this DVD Recorder as I wanted to mainly move my homevideos etc onto disc, and of course the missus didn't want to miss any soaps!!
It is well worth the money I paid, and I would recommend it to anybody wanting one.
Though it isn't the simplest to use, and having the instructions to hand is very helpful indeed, it burn your discs quickly and easily once you have the hang of it. Simple to record off the television also!
It looks nice and modern and accompanys my TV Cabinet with style!

It took me 24 hours to realise that the mains lead didnt work. I thought it was the unit. I tried a different lead and hey presto the unit worked. My husband being an electrical bloke checked the lead that came with the unit. He opened the plug and there wasnt a fuse in the plug. He put a three amp fuse in the plug and then of cource the lead was functional . I think this is a quality control isuue and havent any idea how a lead without a fuse managed to get into the box.Havent had time to rate the product as such yet

I bought this DVD recorder for copying tapes, cine films etc to DVD. Works great, easy to use and understand. Freeview is easy to work and set up. It was the only option for recording DVDs without a HDD recorder as well. Does all it should simply and without fuss. Highly recommend this product, looks good too!
