I completed this dvd for the first time yesterday. I found the dvd to be very different to most of the other workout dvd's I own. I was bemused at first, not really knowing what to make of it but after completing it I did feel quite pleased that I had completed something different to the my usual choice. It starts with a warm up, which is very good and gets your heart rate up, then on to the cardio section, which I do think could have been a bit longer, however, as I found one part of the dance routine hard to follow, maybe it was the right time span. I did feel frustrated and a little bit annoyed at myself for not being able to follow this one particular step, but I reasoned as it was my first time I was allowed to get lost (and I have 2 left feet and am no Michael Jackson by any stretch of the imagination!). It also didn't help that the Instructor or Trainer didn't explain the moves but just went into these without any warning. I did feel like a baby elephant whilst Martine and the other, I would think, professional dancers moved gracefully and elegantly around the set. Next it was toning and stretching for upper body and then the same for lower body, abs and finally cool down. These were all pretty thorough and I craftily ache today! Whilst going through this dvd, I was unsure whether I had made a mistake purchasing this, but as it went on, I realised that it is just different to what I am used to and in a way that is a good thing, as they say variety is the spice of life!
The Instructor I just didn't warm to, but hopefully this will change the more I do it - however, I have always liked Martine McCutcheon, which was one of the main reasons for buying this dvd. You can see that she has a good rapour with the instructor so he can't be that bad! Just kidding. She doesn't say too much but makes it an enjoyable experience. She seems to be really enjoying herself (although I would too if I could dance liker her!!).
I am sure I will get the hang of this the more I do it. This is a great dvd to have in you fitness collection if you want something just a little bit different.

Easy to follow - a good introduction to fitness
I bought this DVD as I'm not a fitness enthusiast and just wanted something to get me into a bit better shape after having my baby. So this review needs to be read bearing that context in mind. I found the DVD easy to follow but it isn't really dance - those really wanting a dance-based fitness DVD would probably be disappointed. It is simply a dancier/more rhythmic version of straight forward aerobics. The routines need no explanation or practice as they are simple from the outset. There is minimal inane chat which is always a bonus when it comes to a fitness DVD you are going to do repeatedly. It is possible to follow the whole regime including all body parts or pick and choose sections if you have less time. There is also a specific dancer to follow if you want an easier regime. The music is rather tinny and irritating - somewhat similar to 'on hold' telephone music/lift music, but as the routine is so easy to follow it is very possible to mute the video and put on your own music. Martine McCutcheon is likeable and frankly I find it easier to do a fitness DVD with her than I do someone like Nell McAndrew who is a bit too enthusiastic/serious for me! Martine appears to represent women like me well! She is down to earth, but she probably suits the reluctant/infrequent exerciser more than someone who is looking for a fitness DVD to complement their existing fitness routine. (The DVD also contains a segment on nutrition but I can not comment on that as I've never watched it)
FINALLY A FUN AND CHALLENGING DANCE WORKOUT!!
This is a dance dvd that I really cannot fault. It comprises of multi elements, there is dance, combined with cardio sections to burn off calories, stretching so you tone up and relaxation with a bit of ashtanga yoga at its VERY basic so dont worry you wont need to do head stands or anything like that!! The routines are challenging but the way the exercises are constructed is clever as you could just do one section and in that you would have warmed up toned and cooled down it is brilliant. Perfect for busy mums and those that want a challenge. I have also watched the nutritional advice section and that was easy and simple to follow, Martine is very encouraging on the intro and films a diary whilst she was training for this so you can relate to it for encouragement. I have been on this for two weeks and lost 4lbs, so I am back into my size 14!!!, you dont even need anything else like weights or mats either, buy this it really works. good luck.
Fabulous work out DVD
I bought Dance Body because as a stay at home mother I rarely get time to go to the gym or anything like that. The first time I put it on I did get a little lost as there is no indication that another move is coming up, however once I got into the swing of things I found I was pulling off most of the moves with no problem at all. There is a great combination of high impact moves and relaxing yoga positions, so there is plenty of moments to catch your breath. If like me you are new to exercising at home then this DVD is brilliant. There is also a very good section on nutrition and the instructor gives alot of information about portion sizes and what to eat when. He also explains what to avoid. Overall this is a must have for anyone that can't afford or find the time to get out to exercise at a gym. It only takes an hour and it is definitely worth having.

Martine McCutcheon - Dance Body (DVD)
This is great for both begginers and more advanced people. It is very easy to follow and its not too long. It starts on a warm up and then goes onto cardio section, upper body, lower body and then abs. I found it easy to follow and good to do a couple of times a week. The only thing i would critise is that Martine herself doesnt lead the group it is a man. Who is very good but Martine just takes part in it.
I would recommend this dvd to anyone who wants an easy to follow workout that works all paerts of the body.
