A very nice product. Being able to use the LED's as a flash or lamp is excellent. Fitted the shoe on a Nikon D40 and operated exactly as it should. I like the ability to increase and decrease the amount of light. In macro work this is a top device.

I got this flash for a Sony DSLR, I must say that is worth all the money it costs (in fact it is very cheap).
But apart from the economic discourse, it should be seriously taken into consideration for the use of the flexibility it offers: you can use it as a photo flash or continuous light for movies.
The adapter rings allow you to use it for lenses with large lenses (up to 72mm).
The light quality is quite good, the only limit (excluding that is not dedicated TTL / ADI for Sony) is that the continuous light is not only adjustable right or left alone, but only full-ring.
More precisely concerns the regulation of the luminous flux, which in continuous light mode is not reduced power to 1/64 but only at 1/4.
Another small annoyance is the hissing sound when the LEDs are lit.
The verdict is very good, and would remain so even if it cost twice, for the simple reason that it has no competition.

Bought this to do close up macro photography on an amatuer basis, its not by any means a Canon dedicated flash as in it is not controlled or programmed by the cameras automatic functions and settings, it basically fires when you take a shot and thats it as far as sychronisation goes, however there are a fair set of options and power settings manually available on the flash unit itself.
The basic unit is well made and comprehensive and works fine at the level it was bought for the controls are well laid out and easily operated and after a few trial and error shots to get the balance and power right it was soon producing excellent results, is this as good as an OEM spec Canon flash or one of the high end licensed models? no of course its not but then at around 1/10th of the price of one of those units its fantastic value for money as an entry level unit to get the hang of things, and if at a later date you want to move up to a more capable unit then you wont have wasted a lot of money and you will still have something to use as an emergency spare, the only two real minor critiscms are that the English translation of the operating instructions are appalling and with the adaptor ring fitted you may not be able to fit the dust lens cap in place and will have to take the flash ring off to put it on again but apart from that a great unit for the money.

This is a great value piece of kit !
It works well as both a tradtional flash style ring light, and can also be used as a video style constant light source. I use for close up textile work and macro nature stuff - amazing for £40 ! Highly recommended.
