Album Notes
English version is sample free and contains a hidden bonus track.Following the runaway success of PLAY and 18, Moby takes a detour into pop/rock that leaves his signature sample-heavy electronica by the side of the road. Keyboards and drum machines are still prominent here, but they are used as background for Moby's songs, which often aim for a majestic, redemptive atmosphere. With the exception of live drums, Moby plays every instrument on the album, and sings lead on numerous tracks. Although, he's not a natural singer, Moby manages to make his half-spoken phrasing fit surprisingly well with the music, leaving the more emotive vocal tracks to Laura Dawn, as on her drowsy rendition of New Order's "Temptation."The anthemic "Lift Me Up" and "Spiders" are prime examples of Moby's pop-savvy direction, revealing what seems like a yearning to get in touch with his inner U2 and Coldplay. On HOTEL's second disc, however, Moby returns to the ambient work that garnered him attention in the early 1990s. These wonderfully quiet and dreamy instrumental tracks make for an excellent counterbalance to the songs on the first disc, proving that Moby remains an intriguing, multifaceted artist.

Love the music artist Moby and this CD has a second desk of ambient tracks and this is why i bought it. One track stands out from the others on both discs as being exceptional and that is Blue Paper.

So relax and enjoy Moby and his music

Another Great Album!

Created: 10/07/06
Whether you'll like this album maybe depends on how much you like Moby. Like each of the albums before there are tracks that you'll love, and some not so much. Some of the tracks are just a little bit different from previous stuff, nothing too alien, and this gives some nice surprises. Personally I love Moby, and I love this album, so I recommend to any fan that you go and buy it. A friend of mine, who is also a Moby fan, came over whilst I had it on one evening and got me to purchase them a copy too! Enough said?

Album Review

I have bought most of Moby's albums over the past 10 years and although this is not the best (currently 18) it certainly tries hard. Fans of Formula 1 will recognise "Lift Me Up" which is the albums highlight. The first 4 songs are great shame the rest of the album doesn't quite shape up! If you thinking of buying it, only do if you are a TRUE fan.

Created: 19/09/09
i'm a huge moby fan ao had to get this to add to my collection of now about 11 moby albums. I would say this is my fourth favourite (maybe because it's fresh to me) behind play, play remixed and ambient being my favouites. I much perfer moby's chillout tunes. Recommended to all fans.

More good stuff on this lengthy CD.

I usually give Moby 5 out of 5 and i did the same for this one because it is crammed with loads of different tracks that are very good. Some of them are very familiar and excellent. This album is not as good as some of his previous ones, though. I'd give it 4.5/5.0 if i could. Maybe it should have been 4/5, but at least this album is so much better than a lot of the crap out there.
