My Brother The Pig (DVD)

An early appearance by Scarlett Johansson is the main reason I bought this (and the way its packaged suggests cashing in on her profile as a major star is the reason for it finally being released on DVD in 2005), and it is fairly rewarding in that sense, although the title seems to suggest that she plays very much the main character which is not strictly true, in fact the script is somewhat weak and tries to cover too many bases- audience sympathy and plot focus shift too often and too wildly between several different characters.

Judge Reinhold, a first class comedy actor, is also criminally underused in his role as the father. Some of the jokes fall a little flat, but the central idea of the story is strong and this is engaging enough family entertainment, and of course particularly interesting for all Scarlett fans. There are no extras on the DVD.
