good router but not to advanced if you want to do more with your connection

i bought this router for mac address cloning as in spoof the mac address on the router how ever the router was incapable of doing this despite a option of entering a new mac address
Don't buy a Netgear DGN1000SP (Virgin Media)

This was DGN1000SP (Virgin Media) not a DGN1000 (Netgear)
Virgin don't sell these so not actually supported in any way - they just stopped asking for them to be shipped back - ownership remains with Virgin Media.
Virgin firmware doesn't allow configuration setting so not possible to change to other ISP.
Netgear doesn't support these either so no updates.
Web advice is it's possible to reflash (JTAG) but quite likely to end up with a 'brick'. The price paid was the same as for a real Netgear one and the listing description was probably just a grab off the Netgear site so all the specs were for that.

Superb router. Not top of the range but real value for money. Works perfectly and does what it says on the tin. I have no regrets with the product.
