NetGear (FS116) 16-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch

Purchased a refurb 16 port Ethernet Switch in order to power my home network. The unit was dispached and packed as if it had come from Netgear. I now have 16 things conected, will be looking to go for the 24 soon!!!!!

I bought the product because I needed a medium sized switch that was easily set up.

What I like most about the switch is it's reliability and ease of use. You just connect networked devices to it (including a router) and it will just do all the thinking on its own (plug and play without any software installation). The item has a great metal case with wall mounting holes on the under side (for both vertical and horizontal mounting).

The only slight diadvantage is that it uses around 15 watts of power all the time (which is no worse than other switches) meaning it will cost about £80 a year to run at my house.

As switches go, it is by far the best I have had and would thoroughly recommend it!

Had to provide 13 flats with broadband, this was just what I needed.
These are very simple to connect, and auto sense link speed and direction. Just connect your cat5 from your modem into any of the 16 ports, then the remaining 15 are output. 10/100 auto sense switch. Good for internet/intranet.
No software or Pc configuration needed. Recommendable product.

A great switch, as it auto-configures itself for straight and crossover cables, something the older netgear switches did not do, as you had to use the UPLINK button.

Just plug in and you are ready to go, no further configuration required

Standard 16 Port switch, very reliable, and good value...these are superior to the home version hubs
