Review for: Nikon D7000 16.2 MP Digital SLR Camera - Black (Body Only)
I cannot add much to the excellent reviews already written about this camera. The camera takes an excellent Video, the video is again better than the D90 + masses of storage with the 2 memory card slots, and a 20 minute burst rate, image quality is very good indeed, better than I anticipated, and again must mention this camera is excellent in low light, unbelievable at times!!

For me this purchase is a return to SLR format after 8 years or so using compact digital cameras. I have a Nikon 801s film camera and 2 lenses so I trust Nikon build quality. Nikon gear holds its value for trade in. I hoped to be able to use lenses I already have and was not disappointed, I can.
I've had 2 weeks holiday picture taking now and have a feel for the basic features.
The control of all the parameters is easy and fast once you learn where each button is. The difference compared to selecting menus and hunting for the option you want on a compact camera is huge and much faster. The command dials to roll through parameter values work very well.
Picture quality and exposure control seem good. Low light sensitivity is amazing - flash is nearly redundant. It does appear to over expose by 0.3 to 0.7 EV in some conditions. This is easy to correct by stopping down if you can predict it. I have tried a few of the many of the scene modes and they looked sensible setting combinations. I would prefer if these allowed over-ride of exposure rather than pure point and shoot. I guess this is Nikon aiming for the mass market and I do not mind much.
The weight of the camera depends mostly on the lens attached. The kit lens 18-105 is a very useful general purpose range. It is light enough for my taste and less than half the weight of my older 70-210 F4 zoom. The only drawback so far is that it is not fast enough to get shallow depth of field, especially at 50mm and more focal length. The only way to get that is a fixed length lens or a very expensive and heavy professional zoom with f2 or f2.8 aperture.
I had the chance to price match in Tokyo and the eBay deal was cheaper than buying new at the discount stores in Japan.

Review for: Nikon D7000 16.2 MP Digital SLR Camera - Black (Body Only)
I bought this as an upgrade to my D3000 and I was not disappointed. The highlights of this camera for me are the viewfinder, which provides stupidly clear images and has 100% viewing, so you can compose pictures perfectly, the ability to shoot at 6 FPS, the video mode, and the screen resolution. Everything about this camera is top class and bordering semi-pro level.
I bought a cheap (non-Nikon) battery grip from eBay for this camera, and it makes it feel brilliant.
I would recommend this camera to anyone who wants to step up their photo taking.
Any recent pictures I have taken with the camera will be on my Fan page: www.facebook.com/ryancareyphotography Check it out.

Review for: Nikon D7000 16.2 MP Digital SLR Camera - Black (Body Only)
This was my first DSLR I bought. Initially I was deciding between new D3200 and this over a year old D7000. And have to say this, D7000 is the best value for money.
Excellent picture quality - good video (you do have to give up on high fps recording of 50/60 as in D3200); but paired with external stereo MIC, it is simply phenomenal for all your HD videos upto 1080p cinematic 24.5fps.
This model gives me the flexibility to WIDE range of selection for lens (over 180, almost all out there.
Built in timer to do all those time lapse.
Best results even on ISO 6400 (means you can shoot in the dark with clarity!)
Filled with exciting features, all waiting for you to indulge with.
Best battery performance compared to D3100, D3200, D5100, D300s, D700 & D800

So professional!

I cannot say a lot as I have only been messing around with it today! However, I am use to SLR's as I do photography a lot! My old SLR was a Canon 500D and that was great, but after playing with this new Nikon D7000 I can already see differences. It is more protected with it's strong frame, has so much more option, has twin SD card slots which is like no other SLR I have seen. There are so many more buttons and settings and you can also add in copyright information. If you are wanted to do photography professionally, this is a great feature.
This is definitely a camera for professionals or people who know there stuff. I am having to actually read through a manual for the first time in my life to figure out how to work and change settings and what the millions of buttons do.
Overall, you will not be disappointed. The only downside may be the price, but I am sure that will drop in time and if you shop around like I did, then you are bound to find a great bargain!
