I had a 35mm film SLR many years ago and that came with a fixed 50mm lens. I found that the 18-55mm kit lens on my Nikon DSLR made me very lazy, standing still & zooming in and out to get the shot instead of getting my position right, so I decided to try a prime lens for a change. This 35mm lens is roughly the same as the 50mm on my film camera & works brilliantly. It's bright sharp & you can play with the depth of field easily. If you're a keen amateur snapper get one, it won't disappoint!

This is a stunning lens regardless of its low cost. It gives clean, crisp images with a natural high contrast and, whilst it's a great all-rounder, it's perfect for retro black & white shots. Fantastic low-light capability, fast auto-focus -it's a must have lens and, if I'm not doing a specific job that requires longer or wider, it's always attached to my D7000. Don't even think about it - just buy one!

A great lens for portraits and some close up work. Focuses very quickly and silently. The lens is very light and fits snugly in a jacket pocket whilst in its pouch.
The images produced are very sharp and have a great depth of field where required.

Before this lens I had experience of only basic DX lenses. The Nikon Nikkor AF-S 35mm f/1.8 simply blew my mind. The lens is fast, very compact size and the bokeh is absolutely beautiful.
I used to think lens needs to have at least some level of zoom, but this prime lens convinced me otherwise. With the kind of pictures it can produce, taking few steps is not a problem.
