This speedlight is, in my opinion, the best of the speedlights of Nikon's currently available options. The LCD is as good as the SB-600. It is as simple to set up as the SB-600, though does have additional very useful features. It has a bounce card, which the SB-600 does not - which negates the requirement to always have a white business card and an elastic band in you pocket. It also has the source terminals on the front which enables the use of an additional external power source (Nikon SD-98A) - useful when shooting sports events with the camera in continuous mode, with the flash attached. Sourced in this manner the recycle time is virtually non-existent. And of course, the SB-800 is the commander unit for multiple flash units and performs strobe function too.
A first-class flash, in my opinion.
Without the requirement for elaborate Menus.

An excellent strobe allowing the user to gain maximum benefits in flash photography. It can be used from iTTL all the way through to full manual and is compatible with Nikon's CLS system. Power output is amazing. The menu system could be a little easier if I am honest, but non-the-less it is still a great flash to use.
