Nikon Zoom-Nikkor G VR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S Lens

This is the perfect kit lens for anyone starting out with an SLR. The VR (virbation reduction) feature is especially suited to a young person whose hands are not so steady, or is not yet familiar with the concept of camera shake. The zoom range is quite limited, but is all that can be expected in such a light-weight lens. There are plenty of alternatives with longer zoom ranges, but they all weigh considerably more. Again, the weight lends itself to the young person. The all-important 18mm wide angle is included, so it's easy to get all your friends into the picture. And at 55mm the zoom gives you an idea of what zoom can do while keeping everything well under control. The zoom control has a very smooth and easy-to-use action. It is important to get a UV or Skylight 1A 52mm filter if only to protect the lens glass at the front. One may soon outgrow a lens like this, but it is perfect for beginners, and the quality is a match for any of the upgrades that may follow, such as the 18-105.

New to digital photography, I bought a Nikon D5000 and most of my lenses are secondhand and manual lenses, this is my first auto lense and I am well impressed at how easy it makes things. A lot quicker to set up and use, so dont waste time on manual focus if I need to take a shot quickly, I recommend this lens

So for £200 I am equipped If you look at BBC News you might just see me.

What do I like about it ? made by Nikon, I bought my first Nikon Camera in 1959 an F2 it still works. how does it compare with others You get what you pay for but if you leave most digital cameras on auto in 99% of cases you will get a good A4 sized picture.

best product i ever had. perfect for short to medium range shots which is most of what you need for this type of camera.

the buttons is working, the auto-focus is working great. no scratches or molds found in the lens.
