I'd only repeat what has already been written! You're shooting with the big guns now - full frame has its costs, and that usually means more glass.
You'll pay twice as much for Pro version and unless your photography is in darker conditions you'll not miss the wider aperture. Not quite as sturdy or heavy as the 20-35 (2.8) or 16-35 (2.8) but then again that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Optically good, not quite the same levels as the 2.8s above, but again given price, very good!
If you shoot full frame as a hobby, great value for money. If you shoot professionally (and work pays for your glass) hold out for the 2.8 glass.....

I bought this as I'd recently got a D700 FX full frame sensor camera and wanted to add an ultrawide lens to my lens collection to go with it.

For what it costs its a great lens, and saving the money over buying the pro equivavlent allowed me to buy other things too.

The lens is sharp and great fun. It has bags of distortion at 18mm, but hey, that's what ultrawides are for. It's for artistic photography, not forensic photography! It's my standard walkabout lens on my D700 right now.

You don't need it if you have a DX sensor camera, but if you have an FX and want some fun photo's at a resonable investment then this is worth every penny.
