Perfect for On the go gaming
Created: 08/01/11
Adaptability:
Since the handheld gaming market began Nintendo have blown away competition with Choice of game's adaptability. (as well as possibility to run homebrew)
No matter what your need may be ,be it gaming, Storing picture, Mp3, Movie's The NDS has the option for "soft moding" using a flash card which adapts your DS's Ability to play games.
(I should point out that downloading ROMs is illegal. Unless you have right to back up. If you own a game, your with in your rights to download a back up "Rom". Which you can run off most Flash cards)
This not only allows you to carry a number of games around with you on one card, But also allows you to store music files and movie files (depending on card). This is the exact reason why the NDS is "Excellent" in my opinion.
NDS Features:
The Ds Features a duel screen set up, Where as players can choose to control the game via the touch screen or button, Catering for styles of play, Also allowing a style of "motion" play which can be seen in games such as ninja gaiden.
It also comes with its own chat function built in, Allowing for DS's with in a certain range to chat together, Game together ect. (Even people with out the game can join in as some games come with a down load and play feature allowing players to play the game by downloading and streaming the game data from the person who owns the Cart.
The screens brightness can be adjusted to suit eye brightness tolerant. There is even a calendar built in, so you never lose track of days.
Compatibility:
on its own the DS is capable of playing DS games, and GBA games, The early first DS can even play Gb/Gbc games, A feature you can Reinstate to your DS light with a flash card. (so long as you own the games in question I may add)
Homebrew:
As mentioned before the DS has a dedicated homebrew scene which is easily assessable online, offering countless of different things from web browsers to Hand made games. (Some of which are extremely addictive and fun)
This isn’t just a console for kids, its perfect for all the family considering the choice of games out there and the difference in genre.
Fails:
Where the DS Lacks in graphics it makes up for in charms, Although some games look better than others, it seems down to personal choice that the Graphics on some games leave a lot to be desired unlike other hand held consoles (the psp for example) who pride there hand held on its hardware.
The Current Available "DS" out there are as follows
The (original DS)- This is the first release of the DS its rather chunky than its "off spring" but offers high capabilities seeing as Game boy (/colour) will slot into it and play.
DS Lite. - A much more reserved and smaller Version of the DS. Id recommend this one to anyone considering its overall greatness, (in price and adaptability with flash cards ect, Renders the fact Gb/Gbc games wont fit in it less of an issue for the retro gamer.
Dsi - Completely similar to the DS lite, only it has a camera. (two in fact) a feature I find almost completely boring, Though I should point out that if you Buy one of these ones and would like to adapt it for media ect, Make sure your Flash card will work on a Dsi.
3DS. - not released yet.
Suggestion:
A perfect gift suggestion for the average gamer would be as follows.
1 DS light.
1 Flash card. (R4)
1 Micro SD card. (2gig- or 8gig depending on how much media they will be putting onto it)
The above suggestion really makes the console stand out.

Having never used a games console before, my five year old son was up and running playing a game in minutes. Robust and simple, and having to hold the stylus like a pen is helping develop the muscles in his hand for writing (he hates writing because his hand aches, but is persevering with the stylus in order to play a game!) Peace and quiet for a while for a Mummy!

The Nintendo Ds Lite is a smart sylish games console featuring duel screen , the bottom screen being a touch type with sylus, ds lites are wi-fi connecable with voice comannd 2.
The Screens are too easily damaged due to weak lid hinge design resulting in top screen damage which is a pain to repair , also the loudness of the spaekers when on max leaves alot to be desired,
delicate screens easily scratched , poor quality speakers!
Although Exellent Game Play . .. i would never pay full price for one off these there just too delicate..........
