Graphical Wii-knesses
Created: 20/08/10
The Wii is great fun for the family and the Wiimote & Nunchuck motion controllers and things like Wii Fit set it aside from the PS3 and Xbox 360 and make it a unique experience. Unfortunately so do its graphical capabilities which in some games appears to be closer to early PS2 standard than PS3.
Putting Nintendo's steadfast reliance on cute, technically undemanding graphics to one side, some games, particularly "multiformat" games, are truly so ugly on Wii that on a big TV they'll hurt your eyes, and if you're used to the hi-res delights of PS3 and X360 then you'll undoubtedly be disappointed.
A decent rule of thumb is that Nintendo's own games seem to get the best out of their own console and have the best lifespans, and you're never quite sure what you're going to get when you buy a Wii game by a third party publisher. If you have a PS3 or Xbox 360 already, Wii will be a fad thing, something you have quick, casual sessions on with the family or mates - "serious" gaming will still be done on the other consoles. Without being unkind (I have all three main home consoles, a DS and I honestly love my Wii and wouldn't want to be without it) I'd say that Wii always was and still seems to be "the console for people who don't actually play serious games, or play games seriously."

Wii for Christmas
Created: 09/12/10
I got the Nintendo Wii Black Video Game Console
for the family to enjoy for this Christmas and when I got it I had a little play. I quickly found it easy to set up and one thing you should be aware off is that you do need an extra remote controller as only one comes with the console (maybe Nintendo should think about this!!). I found one again on ebay for about £20 with the motion attachment. I haven't tried this yet but will wait for Christmas Day. I think it will great fun. You do get enough games with it to start with. But I have purchased extra games on ebay which ranged from £9 - £30.
I think you really have to look out for the different combos that are out there to get the setup you need. This is a good starting point for me.
I think if you have Children then they will love it, mine will have big shock this Christmas.
So far what I have seen and used is great but like everthing with these game consoles it's how many times you are going to use it and how many games you have but you can hire from the Library!!.
Happy bidding out there and if you are humming and harring about getting one then think about what your interests are, I like the Sport resort games but if you like shoot'em up games then maybe an Xbox or PS3 is for you.I haven't looked for those games yet for the Wii if they have them......time will tell.

Making the right decision.

Once the console has been connected and tucked in with the rest of the entertainment equipment the involvement to play any game or exercise is little more than using a DVD player. This I like.
Within the games I've tried there are frequent prompts to help and correct you, although you have to be prepared to read these brief lines.
I can't think of anything I would say I dislike with it other than it eats up time more than you intend or have to spare.
Depending on the game you have I can see there is the chance of a fair bit excersize on offer, so it is possible for all the family to gain varying degrees of fun and involvement with the Wii.
Why we bought it? Well, our two girls, 7 and 11, enjoyed playing and excersizing on a friend's Wii way back in September 2010 so we had given consideration to buying one then. We ruled it out because our girls are so involed in reading, craftwork, school and after school actities there seemed little chance of it seeing the light of day very often, like so many play consoles seem to do. Anyway, as Christmas approached we discussed it further and felt a bit guilty that our girls did not have at least one major games console to talk about with schoolmates. Either it would splice in with their activities or it would collect dust. We shall see. And, of course, this, like so many bits and pieces within a family's collection, at times we can play with the children on it.
At this moment in time we think it was the right decision to buy the Wii for the family, whether it remains or returns to eBay is all about the use it gets but there is no doubt we find small regular periods of play seems to work well for us, as with many other activities.
Reg and family.

Nintendo Wii plus

This Wii plus in black is perfect for our lounge, the games included in the package are very active and so excellent for the children.
The black Wii matches and blends in well with the TV.
We've all been very happy with this item and can't wait to use it every day as we've all got our own profile set up to see how much exercise we've done and calories burnt. The Wii fit board lets you know how much weight you've lost (or) gained,as it has all your details including height, weight, age and gender.

Nintendo Wii Black

still one of the best consoles on the market, good for kids adults and the family alike, and those who called in the "underdog" orignially, are beginning to eat there words as the other console makers are all following suit with the motion gaming. my favourite console by far. and in black looks amazing and subtly stylish next to any flat screen tv.
