No Retreat, No Surrender (DVD 2004) VAN DAMME

Created: 21/11/09
This film is a kind of David meets Goliath story told in martial arts terms. Young Jason Stillwell (Kurt McKinney) moves with his parents to Seattle, where local bullies harass them without mercy. Jason's father Tom (Tim Baker) does not believe in violence, so the family takes it on the chin. One day Jason enrolls in a martial arts class and quietly rises in rank to be a major contender. His mettle is tested in an international match against Ivan, a Russian champion (Jean-Claude Van Damme), expanding the "enemy" beyond Seattle's borders. A thoroughly enjoyable , martial arts 'Rocky Style' film.

A classic martial arts film with more cheese than a deli counter, the acting is that bad its good and it has more continuity errors than I ever thought possible. But even so it is fantastic...

This film is action packed from the beginning. Chuck Norris is a brilliant actor.I am a big fan of Chuck Norris, jackie Chan, Jean claude van damme and steven segal.
I am in the process of changing my videos into dvd's, it is taking me for ever.

I was a huge fan of this film when it came out.. It is still great- though you have to giggle at the 80's outfits, dubious editing and sound effects... Loved it though! Go Jason.. If you are a Van Damm fan, be warned he is NOT the star of this film.. He is only 'the baddy' in the final quarter of an hour!
