The Other Boleyn Girl (DVD)

An extraordinary tale of sex, passion and royal intrigue. This is the little-known story of Mary Boleyn who was mistress to King Henry VIII before he married her older sister, Anne. Inspired by Philippa Gregory's novel of the same name, this film is about great families jockeying for position and using their daughters as pawns in a deadly game. Set during one of the most notorious periods in British regal history, it is a powerful narrative and at its heart is the relationship between two rivals - the Boleyn sisters.

I've read the book and watched the other 'Other Boleyn Girl' film and was disappointed with it. So I watched this one and really enjoyed it. This adaption is truer to the book, the main story revolves around Mary Boleyn rather than her sister Anne (which is how the book was written). The BBC have clearly done a better job than the Hollywood blockbuster. I would recommend this film if you are a lover of historical,costume dramas.

The intrigue within the court of Henry VIII is colourful and quie shameless at times. The story of Mary Boleyn, Anne`s sister is litle told and yet here, the story based upon Phillippa Gregory`s book is dealt wih in a most dignified way. A film well worth watchng.

This BBC version is much better than the recent film version and is a closer reflection of the book "The other boleyn girl" by Philippa Gregory.

Dvd is brilliant shows lifesyles and turmoils of the tudors and the bond between siblings . Would recommend
