Freesat with all the convenience of the simple Sky guide and subscription free recording into the bargain. What more could you ask for. Works a treat, with a generous 160Gb hard drive for SD recordings. Tried HD via a non-Freesat satellite receiver but a continual hassle - this machine is so simple. Buy one!

As with all sky receivers they are regional and will need sky input to change this. I would advise that you check on the area that you purchase a second hand receiver to ensure that it is from your area otherwise you could end up with news from London when you live in Manchester ie;no local news.You also need to subscribe to a sky package to make the recorder work and also to play recorded stuff back.No subscription no play back possible even if you subscribed to record it.

An old model but still works well and is fairly easy to upgrade the hard drive.
There are also reports that it is the only Sky box that can be modified to work as a freesat pvr but I doubt I will try that.
