I required a lens that was good for taking wide angle shots and portraits. It is really strait forward to use as autofocusses and is also good for macro work. The nearest to compare with this is a Sigma 17-70 that is f2.8. It is not quite as good as that but in some conditions it is better. All round an ok lens and the price was not too expensive compared to the Sigma (mentioned here).
