Philips QC5170 Hair Trimmer

As I am getting older, my hair was becoming quite unmanageable. It was costing me a few pounds everytime I went to the barber to cut a very thinning hair mass. So I decided to look for some clippers that my wife could use to trim my hair. Going through the ebay pages I found the Philips QC5170 that I could use and do the job myself. (Who needs a wife!). I particularly like the design of these clippers whereby the cutting head can revolve around 180 degrees and this gives the impression that you are 'brushing' your hair whilst actually cutting. It certainly helps me to get a nice cut all over - I have changed my hair style from a few very wispy strands to a very comfortasble No. 5. I am still getting used to cutting the hair at the neck line but I am improving. It is also nice to be able to set the trimmer to the desired hair length and then just get on with it. I also like the two interchangeable comb attachments showing the hair length that can be cut when using them.

My two minor dislikes are - I find it difficult to get used to the on/off switch on the back of the trimmer - it would be much more comfortable for me to have this on the side and much easier to use. I would also have liked a stand for the trimmer to be placed in after use.

Great machine, swivell head makes it easy to cut hair yourself, a little expensive if you pay full price but worth every penny, even better if you pay half price on ebay.

This item is probably the best hair trimmer there is.

Plus:

- You can shave your own hair
- very powerful motor (you dont have to be careful, just cut: it wont hurt)
- no need oiling
- self sharpening motor (they are really sharp after many haircuts)
- good battery life
- a trimmer came with it


Minus:

- Cant really think of any

Having had a babyliss corded trimmer before which had served me well, I chose the Phillips QC5170 as they were designed to be used on yourself the swivel head is excellent and ease of use is superb. Coupled with the fact that they can bu used cordless with the charge lasting really well. Definitely highly recommend them.

cordless and easy to use and easy to clean and store. good operating time for small amount of charge.
