    Album Notes
The mammoth 16-disc box set OH BY THE WAY was released to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd's first album. It contains every one of Floyd's studio albums, each packaged in a miniature-LP-style sleeve. It's the most exhaustive overview one could ask for, chronicling the band's beginnings as pioneering psychedelic scenemakers through their '70s tenure as prog-rock merchants and their latter-day reincarnation as grand old men of British rock. While rarities-seekers should be advised of the lack of bonus/previously unreleased tracks here, there's so much dazzling material that it doesn't really matter. Pink Floyd were the original psychedelic space cadets, and the thrill of their early acid-rock forays under Syd Barrett's baton is all the more intense when it brushes up against Roger Waters-helmed concept pieces like ATOM HEART MOTHER and DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. The band's post-Waters material adds a dignified final chapter to the story, with David Gilmour shining in the spotlight. The Floyd catalog, considered as a whole, contains some of the most innovative music ever released under the umbrella of rock, and OH BY THE WAY is a classy and convenient way to absorb it all.

"El Zee review, under Pink Floyd"? Communication Breakdown somewhere....!!

     | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
    Created: 03/02/12
Well, it's quite funny really. I go to write a review about the Led Zeppelin Box Set - Replica Japanese version, and what pops up on my screen but The Pink Floyd! (Yes guys, they WERE called that, back in the day of psychedelic underground sounds)!
So it's a bit weird, one might say.
    Well...
The El Zee Box Set is awesome. It's cool, it's not expensive, like the "real" thing, I don't want to even open it...! I mean, I don't need to, I've gor everything on Vinyl, CD and remastered CD, along with how many DVDs of the mighty Page/Plant/Jones + Bonham in concert, I don't know. It's just good to have this stuff, you know. (That's not a question... it is good to have this stuff)!
So this isn't really a review, you may say. And I guess you may be right, but it kind of is, coz I am saying it's a pretty awesome addition to any true Zep fans collection, whatever you choose to do with it. Go and get one, it's a great price for all their albums.
    And the Floyd Box Set?
Well I guess I may have to buy one, and then the Led Zep "review" will pop up, and that will complete my confusion...!
Someone, somewhere, seems to have had a momentary lapse of reason......

Pink Floyd - Oh By The Way (Box Set)

    Created: 11/06/09
First off, if you already own all 14 Pink Floyd albums (2 are doubles) then this is probably not for you, unless you are an obsessive Floyd collector.
Each of the original albums has been miniaturized complete with gate fold covers, album art, and including little postcards and posters in Dark side of the moon and Wish you were here. Even the cds themselves have the original labels.(a nice touch)
I won't bore you with my opinion on the albums, if you are reading this then you're probably a Floyd fan and have your own views.
One thing I will say is that these are the original recordings and have not been remastered, for which I am eternally grateful. Some will bemoan this but I much prefer the sound to be as Floyd intended at the time and find remastered copies cold and clinical, lacking the warmth of the original. (But hey, that's just my opinion).
A word of warning PRICE!! Pink Floyds website list this at £109.00, (although they are always out of stock). I got this for a very reasonable price on ebay but beware a lot of places want over £150 and a well known music shop, who shall remain namless (ok it's HMV) want a staggering £211.99, so shop around.

I don't usually write reviews, cos I am too lazy. But this one will be easy. There are only three things I need to say...
    1. It is Pink Floyd.
    2. It is a box set of all their studio albums.
    3. It only cost me the bargain price of £44.
That's it. enough said. What are you waiting for?? Buy it now and enjoy forever.

    A True Box of Delights

Am thoroughly enjoying working my way through this box set which I purchased as a Christmas present from my wife to me! The shrink wrap showed it to be a French edition, and everything with the CDs appears fine to me. A great way to get the set at a bargain price.
