Product description

Description
Director Robert Zemeckis revolutionised the art of animated film in 1998's WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT by dropping cartoon characters into the same frame with flesh-and-blood actors. In THE POLAR EXPRESS, live action and animation have merged seamlessly, resulting in sparkling super-realism. A landmark technique Zemeckis and his Sony Pictures Imageworks team call Performance Capture perfectly suits the tenor of this wondrous children's Christmas story by Chris Van Allsburg. A disillusioned little boy, just old enough to doubt the existence of Santa Claus, has the adventure of a lifetime one fateful Christmas Eve. Clad in his pyjamas, he climbs aboard a magic train to the North Pole, driven by a kindly train conductor. Among myriad jaw-dropping moments, the train plummets brakeless through crystalline mountains in a simulated roller coaster ride. Going off the rails, skidding sideways, and snaking violently across a frozen lake, the train arrives at the North Pole (a vast, glowing city of brick buildings). At that moment, the car carrying the kids detaches and they're sent tumbling down never-ending chutes and slides until they land in the middle of Santa's Workshop. With its fascinating tale and impressive technical frolics, THE POLAR EXPRESS is destined to become both a holiday classic and a new turning point in the art of animated cinema.

POLAR EXPRESS

Created: 13/02/09
This is a magical christmas film kept me, my husband and our 4 year old son engrossed the whole way through. I couldn't pass a bad comment on it, This is why i just had to purchase a copy as it was on tv christmas eve and it was the best christmas film i've ever seen, really shows the magic of santa and why all little children should believe.

Provides plenty of action to keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through, the film has everything it's heart warming, action pack and theres a few times you'd love to climb in the tv and give a few of them children a hug.

we will have this one out ever christmas to watch,

fantastic family film

Created: 18/12/10
This DVD is a favourite of our 2 year old, it has everything in it he loves, trains, santa and children. He now knows it off by heart and alwys tells us what is going to happen even before it does. The reason we purchased this item was purely because all our family members had it and he loves it and w'd yet to get it. We are so happy now and so is he.
This film is a magical look at the meaning of christmas, from a purspective of a child that has doubts on whether Santa really exsists. The magical journey has lots of ups and downs along the way. Which all seems like a dream but the evidence suggests otherwise.
Fantastic family film for all.

A very magical film, my little ones love this film.

This is a very magical film, its very xmasy obviously being based around christmas, and tells the story of a sceptical believer in santa who goes aboard a magical train to meet santa himself. It is animated but very lifelike and very captivating, its magical and i would highly recommend this film. My little ones are 4, 2 and 1 years old and this captures their attention. Its a must have for xmas holiday viewing.
