Product description

Description
Rod Stewart was born the working-class son of a Scottish plumber in North London. Rod started out in the early 1960s, playing the clubs on London's R&B scene, before his distinctively raspy voice caught the ear of the iconic front man Long John Baldry, who approached him while busking one night on a railway platform. This book tells his story.

I've enjoyed Rod Stewart's music for a long time and been aware of the way it changed and evolved over the years. This book gives an insight into how this happened and how the events in his life influenced his music. There are constant references to many of the giants of rock and pop music from his teenage years to the present day. It is well written, often amusing and, in my opinion, an honest account of someone who lives life to the full, but still comes over as a very caring person. I enjoyed reading the book very much.

It always amazes me that the entertainers of the Mod era that were so full of uppers and downers, can remember just what went on in such detail. The book is great. It appears to be very honest and for someone like myself who has been a fan of Rod since I first heard Truth by Jeff Beck with Rod on vocals, the background to what we were listening to, fits the bill to a tee. Well done Mr. Stewart, I'm amazed you can still stand!
