Okay, not that brave,I'm not Robert Fisk, distinguished investagitive journalist who has trod on the lifeless body's of dead women and children, trying to vomit from the foul smell of death but unable to because his mouth keeps filling up with fly's that hover over corpses and see his open mouth and that of his colleagues as a snug B&B..I did not have to go through such horror but watching Brand ,you do feel ill at the injustice that is life,or death if you are unfortunate enough to be a Lebonese familly who we like to call terrorists,or if you prefer, collateral damage. Now let's be clear here,Russel Brand is in no way funny and I would like to thank my fellow reviewers for wathching this for me.What is so funny about this Lord Byron wannabe? To be honest I wish he was like Byron, namely the being dead bit. This is a guy who along with Jonathan Ross thinks that leaving obscene messages on the awnser phone phone of a 78 year old man is the everest of comedy,am I missing something? Why have my sides not split? Is it my (Basil)faulty wallty?Look you can enjoy him if you suffer from a brain disorder, which evedently some of you do and before you all take offence, would you like Brand's itch clinic bound c*ck slthering into the vagina of your girfrind, sister, wife or mother?Maybe your own anus?Thought not.Oh sorry, maybe some of you might like the last bit.Juvenile but vile messages to your grandfather?I dougbt it.Would you like to see him badly beaten? Now your talking.Still he has some brilliantly timeless qoutes such as...that's right, none,f**k all, there are stillborne babys who have more important things to say...I look forward to his death, hopefully it will start off with coldsores which after a blood test reveals latent herpies which after further concern from top consultants the final revelation that he has full blown AIDS,never mind the nusience that is HIV...that said I would settle for the mystery of HIV,at least that news would hopefully turn out positive...I wonder if Robert Fisk could cover the story...na,he's been through enough...
I've read several other reviews saying 'I dont like him', which doesn't make sense, why write a review about something you don't like anyway? This feature is here for people who like something to say whether it's as good as other stuff etc.
Personally, I love Russell Brand, however his live DVDs never quite compare to that of what he's really like as a person, if you just listen to his podcast or any other of the shows that he does then you'll see how much better it is. Both this dvd and his first one do get a lot of laughs out of it, but it is somehow disappointing to watch; especially as his stand-up person is so different to his normal persona.
However, I'm a comedy lover and you do get quite a lot of laughs out of this dvd, so I'm going to give it a 'good'.
Russell Brand - Doing Life - Live DVD
I am a fan of Russell Brand and on this DVD he is as hilarious and manic as ever! I recently watched Russell Brand in his latest film entitled "Get Me To The Greek" and I thought this was a brilliant film and he was very funny in it. I really enjoyed the film and therefore decided to see if there were any Russell Brand DVDs I could obtain on ebay. I have recently had a family bereavement and am very depressed, I need something to cheer me up and Russell Brand Doing Life did just that. I would recommend this DVD to any fans of Brand - it will not disappoint.
Not One Of The Best
I am a big fan of Russell Brand and his eccentric comedy persona, but unfortunately not as much of a fan of this DVD. To begin it is too short for my liking so when he walked of the stage i instantly assumed there would be an encore which there wasnt, and i was left reluctantly feeling "was that it?". Also he sometimes looked awkward on stage as if he was reading though a over rehearshed piece and was embarrassed about reading his lines. And rehearsed isnt russell's style. On a plus side though there were many funny bits including his daring venture out into the audience and chatting up an old man. Also after the you've seen the show the extra's are well worth the time to watch. On a whole i'd sum up this DVD as a bit of a laugh but to a guy like me who's deeply into his comedy DVD's i see it as a man with great potential still growing into the world of stand-up.
If your looking for a stand up with random eccentric qualities like russell's i'd advise you to go for Ross Noble's Unrealtime or Sonic Waffle as much better choice's.

doing life DVD review
Russell brand is a legend and so is this dvd. With his lateral thinking and macabre sense a humour he is guaranteed to have you in stitches within minutes. This is a dvd i would recomment to anyone with a strong sense of humour and an interest in comedy
