Samsung BD-D5500 Blu-Ray Player

I bought this as part of the complete surround sound system and have to say it is fantastic. I also purchased the wireless box to feed the rear speakers without the need for messy cables running everywhere. The sound quality is superb and it comes with a flat microphone which you place where you intend to sit, activate the auto sound setup and it sends test signals to each speaker in turn, measures the response, calculates the distance from the source and adjusts the db level for each speaker giving you perfectly balanced surround sound. I love it and would like to add that I bought it from Crampton and Moore and their after sales service was superb. Initially it all worked except the DVD player itself which had a fault whereby it would not accept a disc. One phone call was all it took and I had a replacement on my doorstep within 24hrs and a courier was sent two days later to pick up the faulty one. Fantastic service from them and a great surround sound system. Many thanks to Crampton and Moore and I will buy from them again.

The player looks very stylish, with its brushed aluminium cover, and touch panel display. Build quality is excellent. Loading times are good, around 20-30 seconds for a Blu-Ray disc, and almost instant for a DVD. When the movie starts things really wake up. Colours are bold, clear and vibrant, and the sound is excellent. The menu system is well thought out and easy to use. The remote control, however, appears to be have been designed by the team that brought us the children's range of "My first toy". Garish. It really doesn't seem to match the player, for that it loses a star.

Connected to my WiFi using a general purpose dongle without any problems.Worked really well with BBC i=Player (the main reason for buying it). Picture quality excellent for both Blu Ray and DVD discs - I don;t have a 3D TV.Overall it would be difficult to improve on this Player it seems to do everything that it claims to do. Excellent product at the right price.

Does not include an HDMI cable, but overall a good DVD blu ray player, attractive and sleek. It has the 3d function but needs glasses and adaptors, and also has an internet function but requires additional equipment, Good image,
