Slim, light and powerful - No questions, beats the iPad2 hands down.

What a fantastic piece of kit the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is. Okay Apple move over there's a new king of tablets in town and it's gunning for the iPad2!! Super fast, light, slim and very very customisable makes this a real alternative to Apple's iPad2 if you're more in the Android camp rather than being tied (and I mean that quite literally) to the Apple system.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 does all the iPad does and more besides. Unlike the iPad's single, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has TWO speakers for people with TWO ears, what were Apple thinking fitting only one speaker?? The Samsung's wide-screen display also makes a mockery of the squarer format that Apple decided on. The question is has the whole world changed to view their movies and content in wide-screen format or not? ANSWER - Yes, that is all except Apple and their outdated iPad2.
Go to a store and hold the iPad2 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 side by side and you'll notice that the Samsung wins on both size and weight. If you already own an Apple product such as an iPhone or iPod then you'll probably pick the iPad even if the Samsung were to come with a free box of cash strapped to it. But if you still have 'free will' I think the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will certainly tickle your fancy.

Better value than an iPad and every bit as good to use.

I bought this on behalf of my daughter. She absolutely loves her Samsung tablet. It runs the Android operating system that has so far been rock solid with no crashes or glitches. She chose this based mainly on price and available features. Her original choice was for an ipad, but the Samsung worked out at almost half the cost. It has a very good battery life and she charges it every couple of days, ( she's what you would describe as a fairly heavy user). The 32Gb model has all the storage you need in a tablet and can be extended with the use of SD cards. It really is difficult to find fault with this item as it does pretty much anything you could expect a tablet to do and a whole lot more. I've never owned an ipad, though I did try out a friend's before settling on the Samsung. The ipad is a great product, but in terms of value for money, the Samsung wins hands down.
Living away from home, she finds this much easier to transport and use out and about than a laptop or netbook with a far longer battery life. It also starts up and loads apps virtually instantly, again much better than laptops or netbooks. As an added bonus, it also looks very stylish too!

Pros
+ Excellent screen quality, touch response
+ Honeycomb 3.2 update available
+ Excellent battery life
+ DLNA network streaming works easily
+ Pretty fast, though sometimes scrolling between home screens gets a little bit choppy (has to do with cpu scaling I guess?)
Cons
- Takes ages to fully charge (5 hours if battery almost empty)
- CAN'T TRANSFER FILES FROM LINUX PCs (Or it's very difficult - I haven't been able to make it work yet)
- Haven't found a way to use subtitles with DLNA
- A little bit on the heavy side (though it might be OK for a 10 inch tablet - have nothing to compare it to)
- Need to buy additional proprietary adapters to use USB sticks or hdmi output

I bought two Galaxy Tabs for my kids for xmas, they wanted something for surfing the net and also use for multimedia.
I run plex media server on my desktop pc and plex app on the tablets and mobile phones. This lets the pc stream all content music, hd video etc to the devices, works flawless and simple to setup for android. Android devices are the way to go if you dont want tied to itunes and want some freedom.
The display on these tablets are amazing and so is the simple super thin design. More than enough horse power and battery life to satisfy the most demanding of users. Ice Cream Sandwich is due after xmas and without a doubt will unleash the full potential of supported android devices.

We already had two 7' tabs at home and decided to try the newer 10' version. This tablet is fantastic in every aspect, and the newest Android OS really helps make this a great multimedia experience. The screen quality is amazing, and the scrolling very smooth. This tablet is not meant to be carried in a pocket like the 7', but gives a far better browsing and reading experience than it spedecessor. The only negative thing i can fing about this slate is the "limited" 16gig memory and no slot for a micro SD that i have on the 7inch version. Battery life is GREAT. Other than that a great product, especially if refurbished because it s like new.
