Samsung SyncMaster 940B 19" LCD Monitor with built-in speakers

This is a solid monitor, not the prettiest, more of a workhorse than a showhorse. image is a little soft and slightly fuzzy on VGA, but on DVI its crystal clear. The buttons are mounted on the front of the bezel but a the same colour and finish so you don't really notice them it has a nice auto set button and the manual set up buttons are easy to navigate.

Image: As I've said previously on VGA the image is soft, imagine a very slightly blurred image and you get the idea, it doesn't look quite sharp, if your after perfection or close to it then you will have to use the DVI connection, if you do you won't be disappointed, this is clear and pin sharp, colours are good and the screen is clear of colour casts. One thing I tend to have an issue over is how bright a TFT is but again this handles the brightness well, its still a bit brighter than I prefer on auto settings but with a bit of tweaking manually it ends up spot on.

Looks: The Black and Silver bezel isn't the best I've seen and it would probably have looked better with a black bezel on the front instead of the silver, slightly textured bezel. The design is boxy but functional if you want a work of art like the later Samsung's then move on. The screen can move up and down and tilt back and forth. It feels well made but don't throw it on the floor to see if it will bounce lol!

All in all a solid monitor that will do the job, its nothing special but its still worthy of a purchase. if I had to mark it out of 10 it would get a 7.5/10

This model is one of the best value for money monitors, very versatile and a great clear picture. Bargains can be found.

Excellent screen which can be turned to a portrait or landscape position and can be raised easily via a sliding stand, great buy.

I found this monitor slightly brighter than my old one which took some getting used to. Good picture and colours, overall very good value for money.
