Samsung WB690 12.0 MP Digital Camera - Black

I'll try to keep this relatively short. Having read endless expert reviews, the one comment that stuck in my mind was by the expert who queried how a manufacturer, in this case Samsung, could market such an excellent camera with a bought-in lens from a renowned maker in Germany for such a reasonable price when others (unnamed) charged so much for their cameras because of their famous brand lenses which just happened to be made under license by the camera makers themselves? The Samsung WB690 is a gift at this price (I paid £79.99). It takes fantastic pictures, has all the features and controls any reasonable person could possibly want from a compact camera, the zoom is incredible and it slips into one's pocket like a king sized cigarette packet! Does one need more? My only very minor complaint would be that there is no booklet type manual - everything you need to know is on a CD so you either have to learn at home what the camera is capable of (lots!) or print it off.

If you are looking for a superb camera at a bargain price, go for this one and I don't believe you will be disappointed. Highly recommended.

I have bought this camera for the 18x zoom and I'm not disappointed, as now I can take pictures like a pro! Pin sharp lens, dual stabilisation which reduces blur even in poor light, also a very good HD quality video and lots of manual setting options. The only let down is the battery which won't last a day of sightseeing, so a spare one is necessary if you take a lot of pictures. All in all though, my best camera so far!

the camera itself is very good, it was not purchased for me but a younger boy as a requested present. it had to be returned however due to the silver having a lilac tint to it and i was accused of buying a girls camera. besides that the camera seemed easy to use and zoom was very very good.

I got this as a small portable camera, if I can't use my Canon. I was very happy with the manual setting, as many cameras in this price range do not have the option, which makes photography a lot more flexible. There is a range of scene settings which accommodate for a lot of situations, to get the most out of point and shoot photography. I was impressed with the picture quality as well as the 18x zoom which is more than adequate.

Great little camera, with a good wide angle and a long zoom.

Not as quick to take a shot as an SLR, but not bad and with good quality photos.

I thinhk once you get used to it it will be a great camera at a good price.

Plus video is good. What more could you ask for.
