Good looking and reasonable all-round, but don't buy just for the app-store

Very reasonable phone. The processor inside is fast and responsive, the screen is superb and the built-in features are all good - 5 megapixel camera with some editing features, direct upload to twitter, facebook, etc, 720p high-def video recording and, thankfully, a flash. The phonebook is large and comprehensive, calender and contacts can be synced with various address books and social networking accounts. And it's a smart-phone that you can pick up for free on contracts under £30 per month (vodafone for me).
The predictive text can be a little cumbersome at times, every now and then the phone kicks out a memory problem and forces the phone to close down running applications, and the Bada/Samsung App store is rather scant. As with the bigger operating systems, though, there's a reasonable proportion of free, pay, useful and useless apps available.
Battery life is as good as any smartphone - it can last a day with constant use of 3G apps such as facebook, google maps and so on, but I have had 5 days out of a charge with little use.
It may not have all the software bells and whistles of an android/iOS smartphone but it's a very affordable smartphone still with plenty of good features and, to my mind, it has one Galaxy S/iPhone 3-beating feature - a flash for the camera! And it looks pretty decent too.
You could do much worse than get this phone.

My first smartphone!
With a limited budget available to replace my old LG Viewty, I looked long and hard at what my hard-earned dosh might get me. There was the Samsung Omnia 8910, Nokia X6, and Samsung Wave. The Nokia concerned me because of the poor build quality I kept reading about, the HTC was really tempting bar the lower screen resolution and in the end I managed to pick up a great deal on a 1-month old Wave on ebay.
What do I like best? A lot! Superb screen - it's everything you will have read about, HD video recording and what seems like a fine camera all-round. It looks really smart and very easy to get to know. The interface is a joy to use.
There are always things that I don't like but they are few on this phone. The camera zoom is a little "clunky" (maybe there is another way to zoom apart from the volume buttons but I haven't found it yet!) and the shutter button isn't quite where I would like it. The battery runs down quickly but that seems fairly common with smart phones and that's about it!
There is no xenon flash as on the Viewty but the LED flash is very bright - maybe too bright when taking portraits!
Other reviewers have commented on few apps being available but I found enough to suit me & installation is a breeze. Others have complained about the size of the widgets & whilst I see their point, it doesn't really cause me a problem - it's so easy just to flick to the next "page" on the screen for the one you are looking for.
Music is OK from the speaker but a bit lacking in base (but come on, this is only a phone!) Music is much better with the earphones and simulated 5.1 sound and the supplied earphones are miles better than those with the Viewty - they actually stay in my ears!
I've been very pleased with internet access, pinch-zooming is still such a novelty to me that I usually end up grinning! I know, I'm easily pleased! Crikey, I might even think about joining Facebook now!
All-in-all a really nice phone that you shouldn't be disappointed with. I've only had the phone a few days so I'm still exploring what it can do, but so far so good. No, it's not an iphone but I don't think it pretends to be and remember that it is a heck of a lot cheaper!
I hope this helps if you are trying to decide on your next phone - happy shopping!

Great Value for Top Specifications - A Stylish Device
This device is nearly up with the iPhone 4.
The specifications on this handset match the iPhone 4 and Galaxy s in many ways however the screen size and resolution on the Wave is slightly smaller.
I think Samsung's new platform "BADA" is very intuitive and smooth. It is great!
The 1GHZ Hummingbird Processor helps run applications smoothly and fast and you get a very fluid experience with this device.
The camera and video recording is TOP NOTCH for a smartphone and you also get an LED flash on the back which is very effective in low-light.
The keyboard is good however could do with some improvements.
Overall this mobile phone is VERY GOOD. For the price of roughly £200, you can't really go wrong. Bada needs some more apps to complete with Apple's huge app store but I think the OS has huge potential.
I would recommend getting this handset over the iPhone 4 because this is nearly 3 times as cheap as the iPhone and you get very similar specifications with the Wave.
So don't think twice about this handset. It is truly awesome. A powerhouse in a stylish design!

What a nice phone !
A very stylish, effective and efficient phone. The Bada OS works smooth and is very responsive, the screen is an absolute marvel, the capcitive touch screen is responsive fast and accurate. The camera makes perfectly suitabel snaps (for printing up to 6x4 inches under a wide range of conditions.
Included apps are good and there is not really anything missing in the supplied apps. I am sure Bada will remain and become a top quality OS in its own right.
If you need a phone which can also do other things, ie, keep your day organized, diary and contacts at hand with the abilty to make good photos and browse the internet, and play the occasional gam and and and .... then this is the low cost Iphone alternative for YOU
