Seagate Barracuda 2 TB,Internal,7200 RPM,3.5" (ST2000DM001) Hard Drive

This Seagate ST2000DM001 Barracuda 2TB SATA hard drives gives you the Power of One, one hard drive platform for every desktop storage application and one drive with trusted performance, reliability and simplicity and capacity. This 2TB Seagate Barracuda hard drive also features Seagates '1TB-per-disc' technology that packs 340,000 hard drive tracks into the width of a single inch, this means that, when reading and writing data, the read/write head needs to accurately follow a track that is a mere 75 nanometres wide. That’s about 500 times smaller than the full stop at the end of this sentence.

I'm no hardware expert, but it only took me a couple of minutes to find four suitable mounting screws and connect it into my system. I already had unused SATA power & data cables in my case, but they're easy to find on eBay if you don't.

It's a doddle to do a quick format in Win XP Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management. And best of all, I've now discovered XP Pro supports software RAID. I've still got bays/cables for two more drives, so when this one's getting full I'll buy two more and configure as RAID-5. That'll give me a total 4Tb of usable space, and even when one of the three drives eventually fails, I won't lose my movie collection!

The hard drive runs very quietly with a minimum ticking noise, seagate is known for their build quality and this is no exception. This drive performs very well too which is what I've come to expect from seagate, overall I'd say that this drive is well worth the money for those who want that extra bit of storage.

as a storage drive this is very good not as fast as my western digital but still good worth the money would recommend to any one looking for extra hdd space

THE CHEAPEST ON THE MARKET BY FAR THIS HARD DISK IS VALUE RANGED ON AVRAGE AT £199, I GOT IT FROM DABS OUTLET FOR MORE THEN HALF THAT AND WAS BRAND NEW, PERFORMANCE WISE IS FAST IM USING IT TO BACK UP MY OTHER 2TB AND IS VERY VERY QUICK I WOULD DEFFENETLY RECOMEND IT TO ANY ONE :)
