Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX9V 16.2 MP Digital Camera - Black

Picked this camera for it's super zoom and compact size. Amazing picture quality and features crammed into a device that fits into your hand.
The large zoom lens adds a bit of extra thickness so it doesn't fit into most generic carry cases & pouches, there is a bit of extra weight due to the in built gps device but this is to be expected if you want those features.
One downside is that the picture quality is maybe too good for some people, pictures taken show every single blemish and mark on the face so you might not want to take pictures of people who think they have perfect skin :p

The Sony cyper-shot DSC-HX9V camera is excellent quality and value for money. I only read one slightly negative comment when i was researching to buy this camera and it was about the positioning of the flash, which pops up, right on the top of the left hand corner. This is right where you need to be holding the camera so not ideal really. So just takes a bit of getting used to holding it differently to what youre maybe used to. That is the only negative because on the whole the actual camera and quality and value for money is second to none. I have always used sony cameras and friends and family comments on the quality of the photos. Excellent company who i purchased the camera from too. Excellent speedy service. Thank you. Lucy

I do a lot of outdoor activities and usually use a DSLR and a variety of lenses to capture shots. Recently, this has proved to be difficult because I have to remove my backpack and rummage around for gear. I knew I needed something compact that could give me a wide range of focal lengths (a good optical zoom) and good picture quality.

I must add that I use my camera as much for video work, so a compact camera that was capable of high quality HD video at 1080p was required. After much research I realised that this camera would do everything I needed it to do in a nice single rugged compact package.

The image quality at 16.2 MP is excellent with plenty of manual features to satisfy everyone. There is a built in GPS function that allows the camera to record the exact location of each photo you take. I haven't tried this yet because I've heard it drains the battery somewhat, but a useful feature. The panorama feature is also nifty - so simple and effective.

The video quality of this camera is absolutely superb. The built-in stabiliser is so good that you would believe that shots were done on a steadicam system - they are so smooth. The video output is every bit as good, if not better than my Panasonic Lumix GH1.

Overall, if you are looking for a smart and compact camera that can do high quality stills and videos, I doubt you'll do better than the HX9V at the present time.

I am very impressed by this camera.. I been search for it for some time now and it hasn't disappointed..
The pictures are very clear and there are lots of other setting you can use..
For some reason, setting the camera at 10MP was sharper than the 16MP.. may be it's just me..
The optical zoom (up to 16) was great.. I couldn’t fault it.
The HD was excellent but the volume seems a bit too sensitive.
The only think I didn't like about this camera is the position of the flash. I hold the camera were the flash comes out... and it can be a bit of annoying.. But overall, I am very happy with it even though it's slightly expensive.

Here is an excellent camera, that produces brilliant picture and video quality.
I rated it 4/5 as I find that the overall picture quality is highly saturated and isn't very "real".
This comes from using the auto modes such as superior auto.
After adjusting the saturation and the colours of the camera on program mode, the camera settles in becoming a "normal" camera.

What's brilliant in this camera is its video recording modes - I personally use 720p to record for my YouTube videos, and it does an absolutely brilliant job in producing videos that are sublime!

At £250-350 - this camera is a real pocket handy camera that fits the bill!
