BLOCKED & LOCKED phones & the '3' network
The sony c905... what can I say it has just about everything on board.. 8mp camera, wifi, gps, nice design, slide keypad the lot... good compact handset.
Now a little about locked & blocked handsets..
LOCKED - means that a phone is usually only able to get service on a particular network provider like '3' or T-Mobile etc. When a phone is UNLOCKED this means it's open to all networks depending on if its 2G (second generation) all networks except '3' or including '3' if its 2G/3G compatible.
The only thing to bear in mind is that if you want to use the '3' 3G network for its unbeatable services like free skype, free msn, free ebay access you need to ensure you buy a handset that IS locked to '3'. If you buy an unlocked one (or any other unlocked phone) its quite possible that these services cannot be set up with '3' although you'll still be able to use general features like making calls.
Also when you see on ebay, a phone locked to '3' and the seller states easily unlocked, please take this with a pinch of salt. my understanding is that you can indeed unlock a '3' phone through '3' customer services but the IMEI number of the phone must not be registered to anyone else.
If it is registered to someone other than you, '3' will not unlock the phone. if they DO agree to unlock a phone it will cost in the region of £15 and can take 1 - 14 days depending on the handset in question.
If you buy a phone from EBay, be careful that the phone is not BLOCKED which means that the phone has been permanently disabled usually due to being stolen or lost. The first thing to do when you receive is try a sim in the handset to ensure you get a service, if not contact the seller immediately, if no joy, open a dispute.
Usually you'll find that phones from EBay are ok unless otherwise stated in the description but just be aware :)

Sony C905 Brillient phone of the year 2009
Absolute Decent look, Nice sleek mobile...Great camera picture (sony never break your expectation).
Especially black colour if you buy it you will fall in love with it stright away there is no doubt about it.
It has good sound as well so it is ok. As you know it is not music phone you will not be able to enjoy music as much as you do in W series this phone is more for camera phone lover because it is number one phone at the moment.
It has great feature with zenon flash so during night the photoes are going to nicely taken. Absolutly gorgios lens (carl less Zeo or something but it has brillient capabilities)
Hard thing to find the explorer sort of thinhg because it comes with wifi so i dont know how to go to any website if you are connected to live connection. Second thing is the GPS it is not brillient but considerable all right.
Battery last three days for average user and talk a lot user it iwll last for a day so i think it will be great if they hit the talkers market.
I just like its look , 8 MPix camera xenon flash and almost everything about it. Plus i m so happy that Sony are porviding the Adapter for the memory card so it is brillient you wont have to pay extra for it.
Plus most of the phoes comes with 2GB card so that is also a bounus feature.
Hope this helps.

Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot™ C905 Mobile Phone
I was originally loooking to buy the C902 but on a last minute wim I brought the C905 because I managed to get it quite cheap.
I used to be a Nokia user but since changing to Sony Ericsson I certainly wouldn't go back. The Nokia's always have some software problem of some sort etc. I upgraded from a K800i and I have to say many of the functions remain the same. The phone is a good buy however as ever there are advantages and disadvantages.
Now that you have this phone, there is no need to get a digital camera, the phone comes with a 8.1 mp camera as you know and the camera really is very good. It comes with face detection as you already know and a 1gb chip is provided with the camera as standard.
Sony Ericsson have also had the courtesy of giving a USB reader so you have the convenience of plugging the chip right into your computer.
My last phone died after 4 years which is a pretty good age however I lost all my contacts and all my photos.
This phone automatically saves all your pictures on a memory stick so nothing is lost and it allows you to back up all your contacts too which is great!
At first the camera shutter looks pretty flimsy but upon using it its actually quite alright and with general use I dont think it would be a problem.
The phone organises your pictures into month by month.
The screen is nice and big unlike the C902 which my partner has and it is very small as it has a big black border around the screen.
There are a few niggly things that I find annoying about my phone
The GPS location feature is awful it cant work out anything if you are in a building or something which has a roof!
The battery lid is very flimsy, almost paper like
The battery life of my phone is not as long as they suggested or just maybe I got a dodgy battery. Batteries for these phones are usually quite good so I am unsure.
The buttons on the phone are awful they are not on individual buttons so you find yourself typing the wrong letter or sliding over to the next button.
Even with the niggly bits I would recommend this phone as overall its very good and everything is bound to have disadvantages.

Sony Ericsson C905 Cybershot Phone
I bought the C905 because I wanted a phone that could double as a digital camera when the need arose and I have been delighted with my purchase in that regard and more. I felt the need for a cameraphone with high resolution (8 megapixels) and a Xenon flash (the only option really for night shots!). I took it with me on a short break abroad and after using my camera the first day realised I had left it in the bottom of my bag the second day so turned to my C905. I was not disappointed, the quality of the pictures is second only to a digital camera but the margin of difference is negligible. The pics I took could easily be blown up to A3 size and not suffer in clarity. In regards to other aspects of the phone, the keypad is ok once you get used to it, the battery life is good considering the other aspects of the phone(HSPDA, GPS etc)and can be enhanced if you turn off 3G and your ringtones, brightness down etc. Looks wise it is a bit bulky but the curved corners mean it slots easily into a jeans pocket. Build quality is top notch too which is always a worry in a slider. Balance once the slider is open is good too, a nice heavy weight in the palm of your hand.
The display is very clear in all circumstances, it particularly done well in bright sunshine. The call quality is excellent too, I never need to put the volume up. Download speeds are quicker than on any SE I have owned before (130kb/sec from bluetooth on average).
It comes bundled with an 8 gig card which should be enough for loads of music and pics.
All in all I have to say it is a worthy successor to the K800i which anyone who has ever had one will tell you is high praise indeed!
