    Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

    Created: 09/05/10
I'll start off by saying that this is my first smart phone. My previous phone was a Nokia N95 that I used for the usual phone stuff inc email, internet and GPS. Well this one blows it out of the water. Navigating using the touch screen is a doddle, as is using the touch screen keyboard. Initially it takes some getting used to, but before long you are almost at pc keyboard speed.
The GPS is very fast and accurate and the route planner is good.
My phone is on 3 network and I have no issues with signal or connection speeds. It checks my email frequently and again is easier to use than my previous phone.
I'm just getting into the apps that you can d/load for it. That are loads of naff ones out there, but some pretty good ones as well. One which you will probably think is naff (but I think is good is one that tells you what every star in the sky is. All you do is hold up your phone and where ever you point it, it tells you what you are looking it. Not that I'll use that very much.
Reports say battery life is poor, not lasting a day, but I'm finding it now last 2 days. That's using the interent, it auto checking my email every 10 mins, light phone call use and text use. Wifi I have on all the time, blutooth I have switch off unless needed. Also I shut down apps when I'm not using them. Anyone that has had a N95 soon gets into this habbit or the phone crashes, so I've kind of carried on doing that. It keeps the phone fast and the battery life good.
Camera quality is brilliant. My N95 was good, but this exceeds it.
I don't use social networking sites, but this phone has built in apps for all that should you need them.
Reports also say that it's using an old version of the android operating system (it is, 1.6). The latest (2.1) allows multi touch (ipod like pinch zoom etc) amongst other things, but I've never experience that so I don't miss what I've never had.
MP3 play back and search is cool and there is a built in app that if you hear a song that you like but don't know what it is, it will recognise it and tell you what it is.
I use outlook on my pc and had my previous phone sync-ed with the pc. There is no direct sync tool available which I find a major downer. You can work around it, but I liked being able to sync contacts, calendar and tasks in one simple click of the button and this is not available, so you have to mess around somewhat to get a half-ar*ed solution.
Ok I could waffle on for ever so I'll cut to the chase.
PROS: Touch screen, internet brousing, sending email, texting
CONS: No direct sync for outlook, ring and ear volume low
Neither good or bad: Battery life, no multitouch

This is a very good phone, but I can imagine if you are already a smart phone user then you may find it not so good. Going from an iphone to this I can imagine would be a slightly backwards step, but as I can this sim free and unlocked for almost 1/2 the price of an iphone, then this in my opinion is the winner.

I love this little phone, smaller than a credit card with loads of apps etc. Only just got it so I'm still finding my way around. Found the texting a bit of a faff to start with but this is my first touch screen so I'm getting better! I bought this phone on ebay at only 1 month old. Not sure how to get rid of the previous owners call record as yet, so if anyone knows please tell me. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. I changed my phone earlier this year on my contract having previously had Sony and went for a different phone because I wasn't keen on the touch screen idea but I've come back to Sony as the quality and technology is so much better. Recommended.

    Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini

    Created: 19/07/10
I love the size of the phone it's great. The features of the phone are good the touch screen is relatively easy to work however during the text function I do sometimes find I seem to touch and touch and touch the screen before it picks it up. I don't know is that just because I still have to get used to the touch screen texting though.
The battery life isn't all that great it only lasts for around a day whereas the phone I had previous used to last for two. The cable on the charger is really short compared to the usual cable length you get with chargers.
The camera is ok considering it's only 5megapixel.
I like the fact you can change the back cover to have other colours rather than just plain black.
Overall it is a good little phone however there are some aspects of it such as camera and battery life which could be slightly better.

Better than some reviews that ive read.

The x10 mini is a great little phone, even though the battery life leaves a lot to be desired.
Having said that, there's an app that allows you to shut down apps running in the background, therefore saving battery life. If you can, get an extra cable for car, work, so you can top up if needs be.
All the features are there and in such a compact design. Truely astounding.
