I'm very impressed with this camcorder. Having opened the box, I put the recorder on to charge while browsing through the manual. This was very comprehensive, and a bit daunting at first. However, once I turned the camera on and inserted the dinky little DVD, everything seemed pretty straightforward. The 40x optical zoom is fantastic. This was the reason I chose the unit in the first place, and I haven't been disappointed. For general day-to-day filming, using the camera is very intuitive - it really is a case of point and shoot, and let the camera make its own decisions.
I also love the touch screen for playing around with the more advanced features, like "night mode" filming. I think I've barely scratched the surface so far, and I'm looking forward to expanding my abilities as I move through the learning curve.
A great price on e-Bay (much cheaper than Amazon!), and a piece of technology that I'll continue to enjoy for years to come.

I bought this second hand to make some YouTube videos for my website www.petepower.co.uk/troubleshooting. I found it worked quite well but took a while to figure out how to get the output into a format suitable for windows movie maker. I never did manage to get it to download properly in XP but on my wife's computer with Vista it all went smoothly.
If I had were making the purchase again based on experience I would have opted for a remote control option which would have been handy for the instructional type videos I was making.
As my first video camera it took quite a while to figure out how to use it to get the result I wanted but on balance it turned out near perfect for the task of making simple how to vids. It would have been a lot easier though if it had the option of recording in mpeg or AVI format rather than cda

even old people can use this technology - sony handycam
great value for money, very easy to use, very lightweight, even the mother in law can use it "lol", it takes great pictures, great movies and is full of great features , it may be an old model now but it has the benefits of using mini 8cm dvd's which can then be played on any dvd player or some computers ,if you use dvd-rw discs then you can also record over and over again on the same disc if you wanted to , or you can use dvd-r which can only be used once .....we recommend to anyone , thanks for reading .. I wanted a camcorder to record my grandson's life and could not afford a new one. The write up on this was good and so I decided to bit on it. Was a little disgruntled when I received it as it said it had only been used a couple of times and this was quite obviously untrue. But, it is a good little camera and for what I wanted it for, perfect. I am happy with my purchase.
