Cracking little radio
I'd been looking for a small radio to take with me when I go fishing and I came across this little beauty.
The first thing I noticed was that it was made by Sony, so it was a pretty good bet that it would be sturdy and well made. Having now taken receipt of it, I can honestly say that it's a solid piece of kit. OK it won't appeal to everyone because it's not the thinnest radio that I've ever come across, but what do you want out of a radio that doesn't cost very much. If you want thin, with loads of features and reliability, then pay more - a whole lot more.
It hasn't got a digital readout, but just the old fashioned analogue display. You just turn the dial until you find your chosen channel, extend the aerial, and away you go. I bought this to replace an old and cheap radio I previously used on fishing trips. The old radio had problems in picking up some stations in certain areas. This however has no such problems. I took this with me yesterday to a spot where the old one would fade in and out. The signal on this Sony radio however stayed strong for the 6 hours I was fishing.
I can't yet comment on the battery life but it was good for the 6 hours yesterday and I can't see it using up too much battery life. I use re-chargeables anyway.
So there you have it. A sturdy, well built radio that should last you for some time and won't break the bank.
I'd recommend you go out and buy one.

SONY ICF-S22 AM/FM PORTABLE RADIO
The Sony ICF-S22 AM/FM Radio is excellent value for money. Its stylish silver looks and very sturdy construction make it a good all rounder. Like many people, I've dropped this radio a few times in the garden (as you do with a portable) and yet it still comes out unscathed. I find it useful even though most mobile phones for instance now have radio, and even your TV (freeview/digital), yet for the price that this costs I would rather drop this in the bath or off the garage shelf than my much more expensive Mobile phone. Only real down side to the product is the manual tuning as opposed to a digital tuner, this is a bit old hat in my opinion and the radio would benefit from a digitally tuned radio (even DAB) and digital display, but again this is reflected in the cheap price. If its a good quality well made cheap radio your after, you can't go wrong with this.
Sony portable radio
I have had a Sony portable radio before, and after it got broken when my husband was ill, I decided to replace it with something similar. The one I got from Ebay is in very good condition, easy to tune, and satisfactory in every way. I am a Radio 4 junkie, so it sits on the radiator shelf next to the dining table, where I can listen to it during meals.
Sony ICF-S22 AM, FM Radio
Perfect little radio to listen to in bed - just right if you suffer from tinnitus! These radios are difficult to find nowadays so it was good to find someone on ebay who sells them - the last one I bought similar lasted for nearly 10 years.
Essential handly radio with a vintage design, works very well.
I like very much radios with analogic tuning
