Sony MDR-XD200 Headphones

I decided to buy these because I needed some decent headphones at a low price and these fit the bill I managed to get them brand new for £15

The sound quality is great, I haven't heard any better headphones than these.
They are big and comfortable, great for home use, not so great for being out because of their size will draw attention to you, I suggest getting a smaller pair for going out.

The movie/music sound mode button on the speakers doesn't appear to do anything, I've tried using it a few times and don't notice any sound difference.

They fit on your head comfortably and have a quite good design in which the speakers are angled to accomodate your ears.

The cable is thin, flexible and LONG, which many headphones do not have, I was pleased with this as my previous pairs weren't so flexible and were often wrapped in nylon, or had a very thick cable, often really short too.

Looking for a cheap pair of quality sounding headphones that will snugly fit your head, and don't give a crap what people think of how you look? Get these.

Probably looks cool to wear them with a hoodie, or something.

How to buy Headphones

When someone is selling headphones at a slightly reduced price because the box is damaged, ask in an email to check if the headphones are ok. Generally and because I have bought the same model on several occasions previously, they'll survive major wear and tear unscathed, so as this item was described as a damaged box and because I use the headphones all the time in studio and on the road, a small bit of plastic and cardboard worn out was of no concern. To me, this was a reduced pair of headphones only.
The headphones themselves have a movie/audio swithch which is absolutely no use when you've a 5kw PA infront of you, but the sound quality kicks so many competitiors into touch, that there simply is not enough space in this review to list them.
The soft membrane on the foam defenders lasts quite a while and is the only reason I even contemplated a new set. The cable can be annoyingly long for studio work, but suits well for bigger stagework and seems to last very well - the last set even had a rolling 19" rack over them a few times without any effect. Some mini stereo jacks also pull out easily - or are too tight - this one's never been a problem.
What can I say, adjustable to fit most skulls, great external attenuation even with worn foam inserts,. You'll get a substantial lifetime out of these cans.

appropriate title for item

i decided to buy these as the seller priced at £14.99, and i had found these at £50-60 in some shops, went for these due to brand name being reliable, description of item sounded good, images supplied gave item justice. Fits my mp3 player, cd player, psp etc so of multi use. Recommended on sound quality, deep bass tones and crystal clear sound, very comfortable and light weight, modern looking also.

Sony MDR-XD200 Headphones.

A very good priced item which provides decent sound quality combined with comfortable earcups and a nice long cable. A couple of points worth mentioning however. The facility to select music or cinema tones makes no obvious difference and is probably a gimmick. I find the headband a bit uncomfortable where it sits on top of my head at times.I think it needs a bit of padding but I have no hair in that region so am vulnerable.
Overall I don't regret buying them and at the price I would recommend them.

Great headphones

Created: 02/08/10
This Is my second pair of the same headphone, The first ones were second hand and after a few months they developed a buzzing sound In the right can.

I love these headphones, They have very little leakage and at full volume are very loud. Film mode doesn't really do much, They should have just named It bass boost Instead because that's all It Is.

It's very comfortable to use for long periods of time, The rubber strap see's to that, It keeps you from getting a sore head, Which sometimes happens with other Headphones.

All In all these are 5 star* headphones. Brilliant.
